The UFC is no stranger to intense rivalries and feuds, with many boiling over both inside and outside the octagon. The latest clash to add fuel to this fire involves light heavyweight powerhouses Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill. What started as a simmering tension at the UFC Performance Institute nearly erupted into a full-blown brawl, escalating the already heated rivalry between the two fighters.

As is customary in the age of social media, videos of the incident quickly circulated, with fans eager to hear from the fighters involved. Hill shared his version of the story, offering his perspective on the altercation, while Pereira has now also weighed in with his account.

The viral video of the confrontation between Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill quickly took over social media, almost resembling a scene from an action movie, with all the buildup leading up to a fight. According to Hill, the encounter began after he had finished his workout. He approached Pereira intending to address the tension face-to-face, rather than engaging in trash talk over X.

Pereira, in turn, shared his version of events when speaking to TNT Sports. His coach and translator, Plinio Cruz, helped convey the story in English. Cruz explained, “Well, I was just minding my business, training at the PI, as I always do. I know Jamahal is the kind of guy who would do something like that, so he walks up to us saying this and that on Twitter. They started talking to each other, and I was translating at the time. Then, as Alex said, he put on the gloves and was ready to go. But then they broke it up, and that was that.”

Speaking to MMA Junkie on the red carpet through an interpreter, Pereira shrugged off the exchange, saying, “Well, things happen. This is the first time it’s happened to me, but I’m focused on myself, focused on my thing. Right now, he should be worried about his next fight. He has a tough fight with Jiri.”

Hill certainly hasn’t taken the feud lightly, and things seem to have escalated quickly. Speaking on an episode of the War Council show on his YouTube channel, Hill recalled the moment when Pereira brought his coach into the confrontation, saying, “And in the exchange, he said something to his translator, and his translator said, ‘He said you’re still sleeping, woke up and s***!’ I’m wide awake now! You can get put to sleep for real!”

The tension hit a boiling point for Hill when Pereira allegedly suggested taking the feud into the cage. Hill fired back, “What the f— we need gloves for? We’re not getting paid right now.” He made it clear that any fight with the Brazilian should come with a proper business opportunity and a substantial paycheck.

Now, Hill is set to face Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 while Pereira has beaten both men. This adds an interesting layer to their rivalry. Both Hill and Prochazka will likely be looking to secure a win against a common foe in Pereira. Will Prochazka’s unorthodox training methods give him the edge to beat Pereira? Or will Hill, fresh off his loss to ‘Poatan’, find the strength to take Pereira and get his long-awaited revenge? Tell us what you think in the comment section below!
