Sean O’Malley is at the top of the bantamweight ladder after successfully defending his title at UFC 299. However, where does he stand in terms of the pound-for-pound rankings in the promotion? O’Malley is one of the most exciting champions in the fight game right now. But is even that enough?
With his unanimous decision win over Marlon Vera, he proved that he’s grown as a fighter and the trajectory should go upward for him going forward. The same goes for many other great performers at the recent pay-per-view. Here’s how everyone’s rankings changed including ‘Suga’.

Sean O’Malley used to be at #8 in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, and ahead of him was Alexander Volkanovski at number 7. However, now, O’Malley sits at number 6 which means he’s fallen a bit too short of making it to the top 5. The pound-for-pound king is still Islam Makhachev.

In the meantime, other fighters have found new rankings as well. Dustin Poirier‘s explosive knockout win against rising star Benoit Saint-Denis may have proven to be a sudden roadblock in his otherwise rocketing career. Saint-Denis, however, managed to climb to #11 from #12 in the lightweight ranking with ‘The Diamond’ still sitting safely at number 3.
Clearly, all the fighters looking to shake their divisions up have managed to do so to some degree. Jack Della Maddalena achieved a knockout victory over Gilbert Burns via a brutal knee that laid down ‘Durinho’ flat on the mat. Now, Maddalena has risen from #11 to #5.
Burns on the other hand fell from #4 to #6. Michael ‘Venom’ Page got introduced to the UFC in grand fashion and has unlocked the rank of #13 in the welterweight division. There were great fights in the prelims of the pay-per-view too.

Mateusz Gamrot went up against Rafael dos Anjos and secured a decision victory, he advanced from #6 to #5 in the lightweight division. Dos Anjos, on the other hand fell back from #11 to #12. Maycee Barber also secured a great victory over Katlyn Chookagian.

For her win, she advanced in both, the flyweight division as well as the P4P rankings in the women’s division. She has now been promoted to #4 from #6 within the flyweight division and in terms of being the pound-for-pound fighter, she is currently on #15.
