UFC CEO Dana White had made his thoughts on the P4P rankings clear after UFC 302. During the post-fight press conference, when asked about Islam Makhachev’s crowning as the no.1 P4P fighter in the sport, White stated, “As long as Jon Jones is still fighting, active and in the rankings, nobody [else] is pound-for-pound the best fighter in the world.”
But after UFC 304, the UFC boss may have to think again as Tom Aspinall and Belal Muhammad have surged up the P4P rankings. While Aspinall successfully defended his interim heavyweight crown against Curtis Blaydes, Muhammad became the welterweight champion by dominating Leon Edwards! Now, their incredible performances have led to a jump in rankings for Aspinall and another first for ‘Remember the Name’!

Meanwhile, Tom Aspinall, who won the interim title in Jon Jones’ absence is rapidly closing the gap between the two on the P4P list! After his one-round dismantling of Curtis Blaydes, Aspinall has now moved up two spots to the no.9 rank on the list, with Jon Jones still holding the no.3 slot. After the win over Blaydes, Aspinall took the opportunity to make a call-out of Jones, who is currently reported to return to action later this year to face off against Stipe Miocic after their previous clash at UFC 295 fell through due to ‘Bones’ suffering an injury to his pectoral tendon.

Taking the mic inside the Octagon, Aspinall stated, “Hello Jon, I have nothing against you personally, but I just think I’m better than you. I just know that I can beat you in a fight, so I am coming for it.” According to BetOnline, the odds for Aspinall’s chances of unifying the title have now been listed in favor of the British star at -150 with Jones coming in as a +130 underdog. However, it’s not just the betting lines as Jones’s former rival has also thrown in his support in Aspinall’s corner!
Daniel Cormier thinks Jon Jones will face his toughest challenge so far in Aspinall
After Tom Aspinall ran through Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 with seemingly no challenge at all, Daniel Cormier has revealed that he thinks that the British UFC star may be the man to end Jon Jones’s winning streak! In a recent episode of the ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’ podcast, the former ‘champ-champ’ stated, “We are ultimately looking at the best heavyweight on the planet, because I don’t know if Jon Jones will beat this guy.”

As such, Cormier clarified that while he doesn’t think it’s a “foregone conclusion” that Jones loses to Aspinall, he still believes that the interim heavyweight champion has what it takes to come out on top.
With both the heavyweight and welterweight divisions promising some intriguing matchups in the future, it remains to be seen what’s next for Aspinall and Belal Muhammad! Will Tom Aspinall be the one to dethrone Jon Jones from his undisputed champion spot? And can Muhammad maintain his momentum in the welterweight division as the new champion?
