In a recent podcast episode of “The Anik and Florian Podcast”, Jon Anik asked Nicksick how he was dealing with all the media pressure given that he accepts almost all requests. The 44-year-old coach replied, “It’s two sides to it man and like, I just I’ve always just been that type of guy or I’m gonna say yes to Arial or if it’s the upstart podcast guy and you know because I did I have a big heart man, I really do.”

Nicksick went on to claim that he had a mentality where he’d try and do good for people who helped him get to where he was. He told Anik, “if that means if I do one interview for them, maybe they get candy maybe they get one of you guys, you know? So I have that mentality.” He then revealed what Rogan told him, saying, “Rogan kind of got on me about he’s like, ‘Dude, you don’t have to do every podcast ever. You know, because remember, people are trying to build a name off of you as well.’”

He then claimed that he’s now trying to navigate through the media. He now revealed a new sort of system he followed for new players in the field of MMA journalism, as he stated, “but man like when the kid from college in his dorm room, has this sheet hung up over the back to do an interview? I’ll say yes, I’ll just ask to put a time limit on it and say, ‘Hey, you got 15 minutes bro.’”

Eric Nicksick is indeed one of the best coaches in the world, and the most reputed, after winning the MMA coach of the year in 2023. So it’s not surprising for people trying to get him on board for interviews.

There are a lot of amazing coaches in the world who have done spectacular work with their fighters. However, no one stood out as much as Eric Nicksick in 2023. As the head coach of Sean Strickland, the fighter who broke the internet on multiple occasions in 2023, the success Strickland had would have been way harder, if not impossible, without Nicksick.

Other than Sean Strickland winning UFC gold against Israel Adesanya at UFC 293, Nicksick also helped train former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, for his fight against undisputed and undefeated lineal champ, Tyson Fury. Though Fury won the fight against Ngannou, the majority believed that Ngannou had won the fight. Nicksick’s success led him to win the MMA Coach of the Year for 2023.
