The fight is finally happening. Belal Muhammad is finally getting his title shot after calling out both the champion, Leon Edwards, and the UFC supremo multiple times for the fight. Their fight is scheduled to happen at the UFC comeback to the English nation. Leon Edwards would be defending his belt for the third time but this time against Muhammad. Nonetheless, even though their fight is officially scheduled, Kamaru Usman thinks that both Muhammad and Edwards are halting the division.
Kamaru Usman was one of the most active champions of the UFC and this has been proved through his records. The former welterweight champion has accused the duo of not taking them seriously. Let’s see what the former welterweight champion said about the champion and the contender.

The welterweight division of the UFC boasts multiple starfighters, from the champion Leon Edwards to contenders such as Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov. However, unlike other divisions, the welterweight division moves very slowly. There have hardly been any significant fights in the division recently. According to Kamaru Usman, Edwards, and Muhammad should take the blame for this lack of activity.
While having a conversation on the “Pound4Pound” podcast Usman emphasized that Edwards and Muhammad’s fight should have happened months ago. “I mean, they should have fought a long time ago. I feel like they’ve kind of just been pretty much holding up the division. Bellal won’t fight anyone but Leon. Leon, I don’t know if he’s saying no to anybody or if they’re not offering him anybody. I don’t know what the whole shebang is there. You know, I’m not going to say, “Oh, he’s choosing not to fight,” said Usman.
He further added, “Of course, you want to fight because if you fight, you make money. But the one thing that I don’t like about this is the layoff, the time that these guys are sitting. Because as fighters, this is why boxers are fighting every other week, every month.” Nonetheless, Usman words do hold some weight but there’s a contradictory argument as well. Dana White was the one who made the fight and he was one of the prime reasons why the fight took so long to happen.
Why, you ask? Maybe it’s because Muhammad has been considered a boring fighter by the masses, however, despite that ‘Remember the Name’ has finally got the chance to redeem himself. Nonetheless, who is the former welterweight champion supporting in their clash? Let us find out.

Usman makes a bold prediction about the welterweight title clash
‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is 1-2 against ‘Rocky’ and the former champion believes that Edwards is something different than other champions. Kamaru Usman’s assessment states that Muhammad might be one of the best in the division but he cannot drag his opponent down and keep him there.
In the same conversation, Usman said, “I would say I like Belal, but I think Leon. This is the difference, the sport has changed so much to where guys are learning how to use the cage to get up. It not even really wrestling anymore… Belal Muhammad, I don’t feel is a high enough level of a wrestler to take him down at the center of the cage and keep him down there.”

He further added, “Belal, his level is definitely up there, where he can switch stances… He mixes it up. He knows how to control his pace… I think this is a very intriguing fight, but Leon just being the champion and being confident, I think he is going to be sharp.” Nonetheless, it must be noted that the welterweight contender has won most of his fights by way of unanimous decision.
To win his bout against ‘Rocky’, Muhammad is training with Team Khabib Nurmagomedov. Regardless, what is your opinion on their clash? State your thoughts in the comments below.
