Is Jon Jones manipulating Dana White for his own legacy, or is he genuinely supporting Tom Aspinall?

Jon Jones might disappoint Dana White and move on to a new promotion! The UFC CEO considers him the best heavyweight fighter of all time, but maybe Jones needs more to be flattered. Recently, ‘Bones’ announced that he is considering competing at ADCC, much to the dismay of some UFC fans. He also recently attended the 2024 event, igniting a competitive spark inside him. He has been pretty vocal about his stance on X while also giving a way through which he might consider featuring in a few more fights in the UFC after facing Stipe Miocic in the octagon later this year.

The UFC CEO has a special liking for Jon Jones and he has often defended the fighter to be the best in the division. Despite the 37-year-old being away from the octagon for over a year, White has maintained that he deserves the number one place in the P4P rankings and not Islam Makhachev. Jones is on a hiatus because of an injury and is likely to make a comeback in November this year against Stipe Miocic. Despite White giving a go-ahead for the fight, there have been strong whispers about the interim HW champion Tom Aspinall deserving a bout against Jon Jones.

While Jones has not shown much of an interest in the fight, he recently took to his official X account to give Dana White and the UFC a way by which he might continue his stay in the promotion and fight the interim champ. Jones wrote, “It feels good to know on the way out your sport was begging you to continue. You never know maybe the UFC will offer me a deal I can’t refuse.”

In another post, meanwhile, the heavyweight champion shared his plans to jump to another arena and conclude his stay in the Dana White’s promotion. He previously posted on X about ADCC, saying, “The idea of competing at ADCC in 2026 has been flowing through the head nonstop since this weekend. What an amazing event.”

On the other hand, Craig Jones Invitational mastermind claimed that ADCC had paid Jones $50,000 to attend the event. Craig Jones already has bad blood with ADCC. Gordon Ryan, who competes with ADCC, uploaded a picture of Jones with him and Craig Jones did not like that. “The c*** got paid 50 racks to show up and watch you mate, you don’t have any f****** friends. ADCC that’s pathetic that you’d pay Jon Jones to watch you compete, oof,” the Australian said in a video.

While ‘Bones’ is busy giving hints to the UFC CEO about a more lucrative contract renewal, Dana White is already saving his best heavyweight fighter in other ways.

Jon Jones saved by Dana White yet again

Fans have witnessed a lot of amazing matchups at UFC, but people never got a chance to see Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou in the octagon. ‘The Predator’ had already retired in 2023 and his heavyweight crown was taken away after some contract disputes with the UFC. After that, a video shared on X by MMA Fighting showed that the UFC head honcho was asked in a conference about the retirement of Jon Jones. The heavyweight champion said that he would only come back to fight Tom Aspinall if the UFC was ready to offer a better deal.

White said, “We were talking about Francis earlier right, I have zero animosity towards Francis. Francis was outta my world a long time ago. That guy over there, and Mick are another story. It’s a long story, that dude did everything he could in his power to make Jon Jones vs. Francis. The fight did not happen and let me tell you what, it wasn’t because of Jon Jones.”

Though Jones was prepared to fight Ngannou, the fight remained an idea. White even talked about Jones’ future at UFC after the Stipe Miocic fight. Of course, Tom Aspinall is the choice of the fans, but things are still shrouded in “what-ifs”.
