UFC Vegas 89 took a hilarious turn with the preliminary bout between Andre Lima and Igor Severino. During a clinch in the second round, Severino bit his opponent’s arm, leading to his immediate disqualification. But the amusement had just begun. Dana White decided to let Lima have the win bonus after winning through the bite. Lima got himself a bonus of $50,000. The absurdity further continued as the fighter opted to have the bite mark tattooed with the words “I Got F***ing Bit Bonus” written on it. This incident had the entire world of mixed martial arts in splits. Even Joe Rogan was left flabbergasted.

In a recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, the beloved podcaster talked about the hilarious incident. Without a doubt, both Rogan and his guest, Action Brunson, were left in splits with how the fight proceeded. Let’s see what the UFC color commentator had to say.

In episode #2164 of the JRE, Rogan sat down together with Brunson and recollected how the fight between Severinoa and Lima proceeded. Without a doubt, the duo burst into fits of laughter as they recounted the fight. But the thing that garnered the most attention was the tattoo that Lima got right after his fight. Rogan said, “A dude recently bit a dude in the UFC and so the dude got a tattoo of the guy’s bit on his arm, which is hilarious.”

Brunson, while admitting that it was hilarious, pointed out that the bite was indeed a deep one. He drew direct attention to the thin skin near the elbows which tend to give away when a strong force is applied. The artist claimed that if Severino had put a bit more strength into squeezing his mandibles, Lima would have bled badly.

Rogan had no option but to admit how dangerous the human bite can be. After all, such bites often result in nasty infections. However, the 56-year-old podcaster wondered how the fighter got into a state where he let out his primal spirits. He said, “[laughing while reading the text on the tattoo] Well, they disqualified the guy he was fighting and he got the win bonus. I think the dude was trying to take him down, and he couldn’t take him down and he bit his arm from behind, which like f***ing so animal! That’s so crazy that people get to that state where they’re aaah f***ing just f***ing like [immitates biting].”

The flyweight bout at UFC Vegas 89 attracted the entire world’s attention. It also reminded Daniel Cormier of the time he had a discussion about Mike Tyson biting his opponents with the JRE host. Let’s see what the former heavyweight champ had to say.

Daniel Cormier remembers Mike Tyson biting his opponents

In a recent episode of the ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’, Cormier and Chael Sonnen discussed the fight between Lima and Severino. However, the bite made DC remember a talk that he had with Rogan, wherein they recollected the time when ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ bit Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis. “so Mike was kind of known for biting dudes,” he claimed.

But talking about the events at UFC Vegas 89, Cormier believed that although it’s unheard of, the first reaction to get out of a clinch is to bite. He said, “Because when you’re an alpha male and you find yourself in an uncomfortable, unfamiliar position you start to think ‘how do I get out of this?’ Your immediate reaction is to go to biting. This dude Igor actually decided to do it inside the octagon, it’s unheard of.”

Needless to say, the fighters didn’t fail to extract reactions from the fans and amuse the big guns of the MMA promotion. But what do you think of Lima’s tattoo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
