UFC 303 fell into jeopardy, wherein Conor McGregor was supposed to make a return to the Octagon and fight Michael Chandler in the title fight, got canceled owing to McGregor’s injury. Without a doubt, the fight was replaced and the UFC CEO personally announced the replacement. But to make things worse, he made a blunder by mistakenly revealing a bout set for UFC 305. Now, the rumors have turned to facts, as Israel Adesanya confirmed that he would indeed fight at UFC 305.

‘The Last Stylebender’ has taken up arms and revealed that he would indeed fight Dricus du Plessis and settle the ‘real African’ debate. Without a doubt, the duo have exchanged heated words quite a few times on social media. And now, they can finally exchange blows in the Octagon. 

Israel Adesanya confirms his fight against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305

Adesanya took to Instagram to share the news and confirmed his role at UFC 305. He shared a picture of himself wearing the new UFC golden gloves. The text in the picture read, “Never stole shine never lost mine.” But what excited the fans was set in the bottom right corner of the picture.

Without a doubt, the fighting community has anticipated the fight between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis for a long time now. The bad blood between them sprouted back when Adesanya was still the UFC middleweight champion. Wishing for a fight against ‘The Last Stylebender’ and a chance to wear the championship belt, DDP commented that Adesanya was not a real African, since he didn’t live or train in the vast continent. With Adesanya’s recent IG post, the fight fans can take a sigh and anticipate just a while longer.

Du Plessis vs. Adesanya is indeed scheduled for UFC 305, which would be held on the 17th of August, 2024. The former middleweight champion captioned, “The SUN of Africa is the same sun that lights up our planet. The SUN will set and will rise again until you walk into it. 🌅 The SUN, enjoy while it shines. Darkness falls when it’s gone.”

Needless to say, the cancellation of the fight between ‘The Notorious’ and ‘Iron’ took a major toll on the UFC fans. The fans began suspecting that the fight was off when the press conference for UFC was postponed. The world kept on asking whether the fans would be able to witness McGregor’s return. Sadly, the Irish fighter had to pull out of the fight.

As soon as the fighting community began reacting to the cancelation of the fight, the UFC head honcho took to X and announced that Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka would now fight at UFC 303 main event. However, the video wherein White made this announcement also revealed some of the fighters who would fight at UFC 305. The board with the names confirmed that DDP would fight Adesanya at Perth. All that remained was a confirmation, which has now been provided by Adesanya himself. Even though it was a huge mistake on the UFC’s part, the fans were, without a doubt, pretty excited with the revelation.
