The UFC 305 is just a week away, and the fans are eager to witness the event. One of the biggest attractions of the night is the return of former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. ‘The Last Stylebender’ will take on Dricus Du Plessis in a highly anticipated clash. Despite coming off a long break, how did he exactly manage to land himself a title shot? The whole battle started after Du Plessis announced himself as the first African champion, which did not go well with Adesanya. During his recent interview, he gave out details of how he landed a fight against ‘Stillknocks’.
The middleweight division has seen quite a few champions in the recent past. Adesanya lost his title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293 via decision. The fight went the full distance, but the judges declared the fight in ‘Tarzan’s favor. Strickland then went on to lose the title at UFC 297 against the now-champion Du Plessis. The middleweight title will once again be on the line in the upcoming UFC 305 event.
Many experts felt that Strickland deserved a second chance after his previous performance against Du Plessis. Some even questioned why Adesanya got the nod ahead. It seems the former champion was instrumental in the decision. ‘The Last Stylebender’ recently sat down for a chat with TMZ Sports and gave out details saying, “He said something, and no one gave a talk.”

Talking about the fight further, he made it clear that he indeed holds an upper hand in setting up the clash. “I just dropped a post on my Instagram the whole internet ah s**t oh the fight’s on. Then the UFC had to announce the fight after I dropped. So there’s one person who’s controlling the narrative here, and that’s me,” added Izzy. Both fighters have been involved in a lot of social media brawls and are desperate to end the claim of the first African champion.
Not only is the 35-year-old controlling the fight, but he also has some plans for his next opponent. During one of his interviews, Adesanya issued a warning for his next opponent.

Israel Adesanya has some stern words for his next opponent
The world has been waiting eagerly to witness Israel Adesanya back in action for quite some time now. Losing his title to Strickland was one of the biggest upsets for Adesanya, and the former champion decided to take a break from the sport. During an interview with ‘ The Rock FM’ the former champion revealed that he would be out of action for some time and announced, “Now I’m going to take time to look after myself, and I’m not going to fight for a long time.”
‘The Last Stylebender’ has finally announced his return and the fans are super excited about it. But it seems he is coming with a completely new mindset and is trying to reinvent himself as a fighter. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Adesanya took out time to share his new goals. Before taking a break, he was the most active fighter in the UFC and needed some rest to let his body recover.

However, he is now pretty much excited about his return and said, “I’m excited, I’m excited, its been a year, almost a year, like 11 months.” His comeback clash will be for the belt, but it seems the former champion has some personal business with the South African. He added, “People are always like, ‘I hope you get the belt back’ like I have belts, I don’t need anymore belts. I’m coming for heads, that’s what I wanna do. Just a few that I have to touch.”
