It is a splendid time for Paul ‘Big News’ Huges as the former Cage Warrior champion defeated Fabiano Silva in the very first round of Cage Warriors 170. This fight was the last one in his contract but instead of re-signing, the 26-year-old decided to explore the world of different sports and now is a free agent.
During his final fight for the promotion, he showed exactly why everyone would want to take him in he proved that he is more powerful and experienced than most fighters. He was also apparently inspired by the ‘Notorious’ aka Conor McGregor who even gave him the nickname ‘Big News’. Now Mcgregor’s possible opponent for the summer fight has praised the 26-year-old.
Michael Chandler praised Paul Hughes

Michael Chandler who is supposed to fight Conor McGregor this summer recently uploaded a post on X where he complimented the Cage Warriors featherweight champion. He wrote, “Dude is a stud! Keep an eye out for him in the UFC soon. @seanshelby@paulhughesmma.”

Hughes did admit post-fight that he was expecting to be in the arena for a long night when Silva had the first big shot of the bout. However, he also admitted that he was confident and proclaimed that he was the best in the world.

Michael Chandler expects the 26-year-old to come into the UFC sometime in the future because he can see the young fighters’ potential. Meanwhile, in 2022 Hughes himself was eyeing the UFC.

Paul Hughes wanted UFC as his next destination
The Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion had previously put up an outstanding fight against Jordan Vucenic at Cage Warriors 145. During the post-fight interview, he was asked about his plans. Hughes clarified his plans, stating, “I haven’t got a name in mind. I am just looking forward to my UFC contract, it’s inevitable. It needs to happen.” He went on, “I am the biggest prospect outside of the UFC and also I got a nation behind me and I’m gonna be a superstar.”
He was confident then and even after two years he seems to be the same. Huges again showed his extreme endurance inside the cage and a lot of MMA and UFC buffs would be waiting to see him grace the Octagon.
