Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon has been a hot topic among fans, but UFC boss Dana White has revealed the reasons behind the lack of details and confirmation regarding the same. In his interview with Kevin Iole, White clarified his statements on ‘The Pat McAfee’ show where he claimed the UFC is aiming for McGregor’s return in the fall of this year.

White stated, “Well, first of all, he is coming back from one of the nastiest injuries you can come back from…the guys who break that bone, so that’s an issue right there, number one.”

He also highlighted the severity of McGregor’s injury, likening it to the injuries suffered by Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman in the past. He then revealed, “Number two is Conor McGregor doesn’t need the f*cking money. So when you don’t need the money, it’s not as easy. I mean, Khabib [Nurmagomedov] doesn’t need the money. Khabib retired.”

The UFC head honcho also stated that despite ongoing discussions between White and McGregor regarding potential dates for a comeback, McGregor’s outside commitments, such as film projects and business ventures, play a significant role in his availability.

However, there is one more side to this discussion. As some fans on social media pointed out, McGregor reportedly has only two fights left on his UFC contract. There are rumors that the promotion may be holding the Irishman, hostage, until they can get him to sign a new contract. It would not be the biggest surprise if White did not want his biggest-ever star to walk out as Francis Ngannou did.

As fans eagerly await McGregor’s comeback, White’s insights provide a valuable context into the challenges and considerations involved in McGregor’s return to the Octagon, putting to rest the rumors surrounding a possible fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 300.

But while the UFC boss thinks ‘The Notorious’s lavish lifestyle is a hindrance to his fighting career, UFC commentator Joe Rogan has highlighted his support for McGregor’s success outside the cage!

McGregor finds support from Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan recently expressed his admiration for McGregor’s lifestyle during a conversation with guest, Cameron Hanes, on the JRE podcast. Hanes had questioned whether McGregor’s high-flying lifestyle may impact his MMA performance, and so, Rogan came out in defense of the Irishman!

He stated, “I want him to do what he wants to do. If Conor McGregor wants to buy diamonds and lay around the sun, I’m all there for it. The guy earned every f*king penny he got.”

Despite Hanes’ concerns about McGregor’s focus on partying instead of training, Rogan stood by McGregor. He supported McGregor’s freedom to enjoy his wealth and praised McGregor for his hard-earned success. And this led to McGregor expressing his gratitude on social media for Rogan’s support.
