Is Dana White's loyalty to Trump a slap in the face to UFC icons like Tyson and Jones?

Who is Dana White‘s GOAT? Jon Jones, right? If you’ve been following White’s statements of late, then you know he has been unabashedly defending the heavyweight champion against all criticism. He even countered the committee that did not put him as the number 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. And when it comes to Mike Tyson, White is a complete geek. So why did snub the pair and name Donald Trump the greatest fighter he has ever seen?

The UFC head honcho has hyped the former President quite often. Their friendship runs deep and as far back as the infant days of the UFC. So it was no surprise seeing the 54-year-old sing high praises for the former POTUS.

Dana White recently appeared in an interview with Brian Kilmeade. He told the former UFC broadcaster and current Fox News phenom about the kind of support Donald Trump showed as a friend. Every single time he went into an arena to watch the fights, he stayed till the very last bout. And White was pretty content with that. On top of it, he revealed how Trump used to reach out to him and congratulate him on his success.

So when Kilmeade asked where the UFC head honcho would rank the 77-year-old ex-President as a fighter, White wasted no time and said, “Number 1. Take any of the greatest fighters of all time, Trump is 1. The most resilient human being that I have ever met in my life.”

The fighting community has seldom seen White sideline the UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, as the number 1 fighter in the world. But it was Trump’s love for the Americans that pushed him to great lengths and stand up for the 2024 Presidential Elections. Outside the UFC Octagon, there is no one tougher than Trump, or so White seems to believe.

As a millionaire in his late 70’s, Trump could have opted to do anything he wanted, but becoming the President once again was what excited him the most. This choice found high praise from White’s UFC starlet Conor McGregor, after the assassination attempt on Trump. And choices like these made him the greatest fighter in White’s view.

The friendship between White and Trump is something that splashes out at every chance it gets. And the last time it happened was when the ex-POTUS asked the UFC CEO to introduce him at RNC 2024. But before that, he declared that Trump was indeed the greatest man he had ever met.

White’s remarks on ‘unbelievable friend’ Trump after assassination attempt

At the 2024 RNC, White stepped onto the pedestal and pointed out that Trump asked him to introduce him at the National Republican Convention, as a friend. When he accepted to do so, the former President expressed how honored he was with White’s act. White affirmed, “That’s the President Trump that I know. A man who truly cares about people.” But there was a time when the UFC head honcho lifted his friend even higher.

During his conversation on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, White said, “He’s an unbelievable friend and he is forever now the ultimate American bada**. That picture that you just showed will go down in history a hundred years after we’re dead.… He’s one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever met.”

A few weeks before that, Trump had survived an assassination attempt. Thankfully, the bullet gave him nothing but a flesh wound. Despite bleeding from his ear, Trump continued with his campaign and exited the stage with his fist raised. White was among the many who were impressed by this act.

The UFC boss has continued to show his support for the Republican Party representative. What do you make of his support for the 78-year-old?
