It is indeed a dark day for the fighting community as the news about Casey Kenney being arrested began circling the internet. The bantamweight fighter was put behind bars on 6 different charges in Arizona, on the 21st of August 2024. Owing to this, Dana White and Company decided to take strict action against the mixed martial artist.
According to reports, UFC officials have confirmed that Kenney has been released from the MMA promotion due to his criminal record and recent arrest.

As per the records obtained by MMA Fighting from Maricopa County court, Kenney was accused of kidnapping, aggravated assault by strangulation, and assault against the victim. Kenney repeatedly assaulted the victim by striking, slapping, headbutting, biting, and strangulating. With these allegations, the police arrested the UFC veteran.
The Phoenix Police Department has put forth a statement on the incident, as well. The statement went like, “On July 22, 2024, around 12:15 p.m., officers responded to an unknown [sic] trouble call in the area of [address redacted]. Officers located an adult female victim with some visible abrasions reporting a domestic violence assault. The female was treated by paramedics and interviewed by investigators. No contact was made with the suspect at that time. This case is still active.”
Soon after the arrest was made, Damon Martin, a famed MMA reporter, took to X and revealed the news of Casey Kenney’s release from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He wrote, “UFC officials confirmed Casey Kenney has been released from the promotion.” This was further confirmed by a tweet from UFC Roster Tracker.

As an amateur prospect in the world of mixed martial arts, Kenney went on an undefeated spree with 4 wins under his belt, before turning to professional MMA, in 2014. He began his journey as a professional mixed martial artist with the Tachi Palace Fights and became the flyweight champion in the promotion with a record of 6 wins and no defeats. He then moved to LFA. But after a draw against Bruno Silva, he competed in Dana White’s Contender Series, only to return to the LFA to become the interim flyweight and interim bantamweight champion at the promotion.

That was when Kenney found his way to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2019. He debuted in the Octagon and defeated Ray Borg at UFC on ESPN 2. He won his next bout against Manny Bermudez via unanimous decision. But it was Merab Dvalishvili who stopped him in his next bout. Following a 3-fight win streak, Kenney lost his last two bouts against Dominick Cruz and Song Yadong. He hasn’t fought since losing his last bout in 2021.
