Conor McGregor sent waves of excitement throughout the world as he launched his whiskey brand ‘Proper No. 12’, back in 2018. Little did he know that the Irish whiskey would find immense success. The brand found worldwide recognition and significantly grew the Irish star’s financial portfolio. However, he decided to sell the majority of the stakes for $600 million, before finding out that the brand had achieved a sale worth a billion dollars.

And now, the former UFC ‘champ-champ’ found out that the WWE star, Cody Rhodes tried out his whiskey. In a recent interaction with Dave Schmuleson, popularly known as ‘The Schmo’, the WWE champion took a sip of ‘Proper No. 12’ whiskey. Needless to say, he was pretty impressed with the Irish drink. Rhodes said, “That’s classic! That’s classic!”

As soon as ‘Mystic Mac’ stumbled upon the video, he took to Instagram and shared it with the world.  Proud of what the brand has achieved, McGregor wrote in the caption, “The Schmo and the undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes enjoying themselves some smooth @properwhiskey! CLASS PERSONIFIED! Love it Cody, see you soon.”

Numerous celebrities expanded their wealth with the help of alcoholic beverages. And along with Conor McGregor, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one such celebrity who did so. ‘The Rock’ launched ‘Teremana Tequila’ and in March 2024, the brand ranked #5 on the list of most searched beverage brands on Google. But ‘Proper No. 12’ swooped past Johnson and took the 3rd spot with almost double the searches on Google.

Some of McGregor’s UFC colleagues have their own brands as well. Dustin Poirier has ‘Rare Stash,’ Jorge Masvidal had launched ‘Recuredo’ and Dana White promotes ‘Howler Head.’ The Irishman’s prospective opponent Michael Chandler works with ‘Hiatus’ Tequila.

Needless to say, this wasn’t the only time when the Irish mixed martial artist expressed his pride for the whiskey brand. After all, this was the venture that helped ‘The Notorious’ in making ginormous donations.

Back in 2021, the UFC star stood strong as he generated revenue to donate to the first responders for the 9/11 tragedy. And of course, it was his whiskey brand that helped him make it happen. Talking about it prior to his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, the fight that marked a tragic pause in McGregor’s MMA career, he revealed how proud he was of what the brand had become.

‘The Notorious’ said, “You know, I was always confident in my whiskey and what I’ve created and that we were going to be a truly successful business. And it was always a goal of mine, you know, when we hit these markers, yeah, business markers, it’s almost like we get a we get a new lease of life. You know, we’ve had incredible success throughout 2020. But it’s like each marker we hit, it’s like now we can go back to the tunnel to towers.”

The ‘Mystic Mac’ has often showcased his business acumen with his ventures, and ‘Proper No. 12’ does seem to be the most loved one throughout the world. This was the beverage that made it possible for McGregor and Rhodes to plan a meet.
