The former UFC double champ, Conor McGregor has exceeded the sport of MMA. From becoming the first person to hold two titles simultaneously in two different promotions, to fighting Floyd Mayweather in a crossover boxing match, and now even delving into the movie scene.
Despite the success McGregor earned over the past 9 years inside the octagon, there are a lot of people who criticize McGregor for his antics outside of the cage. But some understand what the Irishman has done for the sport of MMA. Here is what the UFC welterweight champion, Leon Edwards thinks about ‘The Notorious.’

Podcast host of ‘Up Front’, Simon Jordan was pretty vocal about his dislike for Conor McGregor. Jordan asked his guest, UFC welterweight champ Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards what his thoughts were on the former double champion.
Leon Edwards, unlike the podcast host, had differing opinions about the Irishman. Edwards believed McGregor was great for the sport and stated, “I think he’s definitely brought the sport forward for the… to the casual fans. Something, um he’s like a, he’s one of these guys that you either like or don’t like him.”
“He did become the first ever two-divisional world champion, you know. And even though he talks all this sh*t, he is actually a good fighter as well behind it, you know. For the sport, it definitely helped the sport. He definitely, he didn’t take nothing away from it. He definitely gave more as far as like pushing in front of the mainstream,” said Edwards.
Despite McGregor’s number of controversies in his career, the 35-year-old has trail-blazed for a lot of young fighters. Despite being inactive for over two years, the Irishman is still just as relevant, maybe even more with his announcements in recent times.
