Ilia Topuria is a champion in more than one ways and his latest deed has proven just that. The featherweight champion of the world is slowly taking over Spain and becoming more and more loved by the Spanish people. He was welcomed with open arms by the Spanish fans and now, he’s doing his dues.

Topuria has been a sensation in the UFC ever since he debuted. Now, more than ever, he is being sought out by the world and especially, Spain. He was granted citizenship by the Prime Minister himself and now, he’s just made headlines for helping a child through surgery.

Ilia Topuria gets a warm message after his kind deed

Ilia Topuria made over $300,000 for his title winning fight against Australian icon Alexander Volkanovski. Topuria is well known for his lavish and grand lifestyle and is often seen sporting expensive clothing as well as watches. However, he’s not all about keeping the wealth to himself.

In a latest incident, Monk Andrew’s Foundation broke the news to the world that Topuria helped finance the surgery of one of their children. The kind deed from the new champion had many fans giving him the applause he deserves in the comments.

“our goodwill ambassador Ilia ‘El Matador’ Topuria, funded the surgery of one of our children with the money received for his championship, dream victory ” the foundation wrote in a post that they made sharing Topuria’s generous contribution.

 

Clearly, he’s moved to becoming a beloved champion for Spain, a country he hopes he gets to first defend his title in. But who will step up to ‘El Matador’? More importantly, from the slew of fighters ready to take on him, who is most worthy?

That’s right, when Ilia Topuria knocked out the fan-favorite Alexander Volkanovski, he made tidal waves not only in the featherweight division but in the UFC as a whole. It’s hence no wonder that bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley wants a fight with ‘El Matador’.

After securing his victory over Marlon Vera at UFC 299, O’Malley sent out his callout to Ilia Topuria asking for a title bout in Spain. “Dana, give me a jet to Spain baby, I’m coming for Ilia Topuria.” He said in the post-fight interview. “. . . I want Ilia baby, give me Ilia.”

Topuria promptly responded on X congratulating the champ and asked him to give Merab Dvalishvili his pending fight before challenging him for a double-champ status. So, perhaps, the most worthy fighter is still the former champ, Alexander Volkanovski who is ready and raring to go for a rematch. What are your thoughts?
