Colby Covington previously joined forces with all those who believed that the Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight would not happen in UFC 303. Guess what? All of them were right because the fight was canceled officially. Chandler and McGregor were supposed to go neck to neck in UFC 303, as the latter was gearing up to make a comeback to the octagon after three years. However, after the sudden cancellation of the Dublin presser earlier this month and numerous speculations among the fans, the bout fell through after the 35-year-old revealed that he had suffered an injury in the camp.

Colby Covington correctly predicted the outcome of UFC 303 before the official announcement and he had a pretty solid reason behind the same.

Covington appeared in the SOSCAST and discussed the ideas about UFC 303 and even predicted whether the fight would happen or not. According to him, there were a lot of reasons why McGregor was ready to withdraw from the fight and cancel the bout. The 36-year-old reckoned, “Honestly, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I think Conor is already set. He’s made so much money, you know. His whiskey business you know a couple of 100 million.”

As per Covington, McGregor added a lot to his wealth because of his much-talked-about bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. The former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion claimed that ‘The Notorious’ made $100 million despite recording a defeat in the iconic battle. He added that Conor McGregor is so successful by now that he would hardly be motivated to fight Chandler.

What’s gonna get him motivated to go fight a bum like Michael Chandler who doesn’t even have a winning record in the UFC?” questioned the 36-year-old. McGregor has not competed against anyone for the last three years as his last fight against Dustin Poirier ended up in him getting succumbed to a career-threatening leg injury.

Insights into Conor McGregor’s injury

People were excited about McGregor’s comeback, but now everything is dark. While both McGregor and the UFC refused to dwell on the details of the injury, the veteran Michael Bisping came up with the details about what exactly went wrong with the 35-year-old. He revealed that McGregor had injured the same leg where he had a titanium rod fitted in. He injured his leg during training and the former middleweight champion had a conversation with John McCarthy, who confirmed this news.

“[John] told me on no uncertain terms… [Conor] is injured, he’s hurt himself. His leg, the leg that he broke, that snapped against Dustin Poirier. The titanium shin bone has failed,” revealed Bisping while speaking on his YouTube channel. A few days ago, fans also witnessed a picture of McGregor where the same leg seemed to have had inflammation. He was also apparently wearing compression socks, which made fans think that he might be going through phlebitis or vein thrombosis.

Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and all we know is that the fight is cancelled. McGregor is not known to pull back from fights so easily. However, the UFC might have taken this decision at the last moment considering his health. What is your take on this? Let us know in the comments below.
