The current featherweight champion Ilia Topuria has been in the news for quite some time now. Both Sean O’Malley and Max Holloway called out the ‘El Matador’ after their win, with no response from him. However, things might change after Topuria’s recent X post. Topuria has been out of action since his last outing at UFC 298, where he defeated former champion Alexander Volkanovski for the title.

However, it now seems he is desperate to return to the Octagon and silence all claims. The hard-hitting Spaniard recently took to his X account to share a message for the fans, and it was a big one! He recently took to his X account to share a message for the fans and wrote, as per the google translate, “I already have a date for UFC Spain.😎”

The 27-year-told in an interview earlier this year after winning the title, “I’m very confident it will be this year, in 2024. It’s very, very, very, very possible.” The Spanish Champion’s coach Jorge Climent also believes in their prospects of landing a PPV in Spain. He said, “I’m sure he sells out El Bernabéu and not just of Spanish fans.”

The proposed PPV, as per Topuria and his team, should go down at the Santiago Bernabeu. Jorge Climent said, “Also, El Bernabéu is not just a stadium. When you look at it from the outside, it’s closed like an arena. They have some machines that cover the grass field and the seat sections can be made closer. It’s all now automatic and new. I think they just reopened it this year. It’s all modern and new. If I’m not mistaken, this year, they’re projected to do the NFL, NBA, so they’re bringing in many new projects. So why not also the UFC?”

Topuria has already skyrocketed to fame since his title win in February. The 15-0 star has had his citizenship given by the Spanish President, whom he also met in person. ‘El Matador’ also presented his title at the Bernabeu, where he did the honorary kick-off for Real Madrid vs. Sevilla. So there’s little doubt that he would be able to sell out the 85,000-capacity stadium. And Dana White must be closely assessing these facts.

UFC CEO Dana White has been waiting to host a UFC event in Spain with Topuria featuring in it. During the UFC 298’s post-fight press conference, White had said, “We’re going to Spain… If there’s a venue available for us, we’ll be there. We’re definitely going to Spain … and it would be a pay-per-view.” Sean O’Malley was the first one to urge the UFC head honcho to host an event in Spain. After his emphatic victory at UFC 299, ‘Suga’ called out ‘El Matador’ and showed his willingness to go to Spain.

In the post-fight press conference, White did not rule out the possibility of hosting the featherweight champion’s first defense in his home country. However, it now seems that the UFC is finally ready to move to Spain after Topuria’s latest post. But which featherweight bull will the matador tame on home turf?

Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria have also been involved in a social media war recently. But what exactly happened between the two best strikers in the UFC? In a recent episode of the JRE MMA show while speaking to Joe Rogan, ‘Blessed’ shared the exact details of what happened between the two.

Max Holloway made his first public appearance at the JRE MMA show after his emphatic UFC 300 victory. During his Octagon interview, ‘Blessed’ dubbed himself the bull at 145 lbs and claimed Topuria was running from him. So the foundation for this fight is pretty solid already.

Rogan seemed super excited to host ‘Blessed’ as his guest and the conversation quickly shifted toward the new featherweight king Ilia Topuria. Rogan and Holloway were keen to know who the Spaniard would face next in his career. The JRE host revealed that ‘El Matador’ had no interest in giving Volkanovski a rematch. Much to the surprise of the fans, ‘Blessed’ revealed that the 27-year-old doesn’t want to face anyone in the top 15. Holloway then narrated the exact incident which led to the feud between the two champions.

Holloway said, ““Himself? I don’t know! Motherf**er wants to fight himself. What the hell is going on bro? …. So we had a bible verse off on Twitter, so everyone’s saying like 10-8 Holloway because of the verse I used against him and I don’t say nothing, that’s all I say. And he writes like a freaking paragraph bro to me. I didn’t even read it, that’s how long it was.” Holloway did not just stop there and point out how long his message was. He further added, “It was like an angry girlfriend text”.
