For the first time, the BMF title will be defended by Justin Gaethje against Max Holloway. Many people have shared their opinions on this matchup, and some fans have even raised their concerns about ‘Blessed’. Meanwhile, Holloway’s former rival Alexander Volkanovski shared his thoughts on the BMF title fight at UFC 300.

Max Holloway had already expressed his wish to fight Justin Gaethje a few months ago. He wanted to give a fight that fans would love to see and, as such, Dana White decided to announce the fight for the historic UFC 300 pay-per-view. Moreover, it seems like Alexander Volkanovski is interested in watching Gaethje and Holloway battle inside the Octagon.

The featherweight champion appeared during a recent media day event ahead of his UFC 298 fight against Ilia Topuria. There, a reporter asked him which fight Alexander Volkanovski was excited to watch in 2024. He replied by claiming that the BMF title fight at UFC 300 is one fight that he’s really looking forward to. Volkanovski said, “Max is fighting Gaethje. So that’s going to be fun.”

Furthermore, Volkanovski added that Max Holloway’s chin is going to get tested. Even though ‘Blessed’ has the ability to take some serious blows, Justin Gaethje has proved time and time again that he’s one of the most powerful strikers in the UFC, even getting the nod from Khabib Nurmagomedov. “Let’s see, because I’ve said, that chin is invincible. Let’s see if it is… it’s going to be put to the test again with Gaethje,” the featherweight champion added. Meanwhile, Joe Rogan also expressed his concern for Holloway against Gaethje.

Joe Rogan isn’t happy with Holloway’s upcoming fight

During the last ‘JRE Fight Companion’ episode, Joe Rogan mentioned that he was not a fan of the BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje. He mentioned how ‘Blessed’s earlier move to 155 pounds did not end in his favor as he lost to Dustin Poirier, who was recently knocked out by ‘The Highlight’. Rogan stated, “You know what I hate? Max is a great ’45-pounder, but Dustin Poirier will beat him up at ’55 pounds.”

Joe Rogan, instead, wanted to see Max Holloway keep fighting as a featherweight. He believes that the former 145-pound champion could be in line for a title shot against Alexander Volkanovski after fighting Ilia Topuria. “Max is right there in the hunt for the [featherweight] title. [When] Volkanovski gets done with Topuria, Max is a likely next fight. It’s a possibility. It’s 100 percent there,” Rogan added.
