UFC featherweight contender, Brian Ortega is gearing up to take on the former UFC interim featherweight champion, Yair Rodriguez at UFC 297. Given their first outing didn’t go according to plan, Ortega surely would look to get back to the winning queue.

Ortega suffered an injury during their first outing in July of 2022, which left him sidelined from action for over two years. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, the 33-year-old featherweight contender talked about his return to the octagon after a long layoff. During the interview, Ortega revealed a pretty shocking story of him going out to party after surgery. “I’ve always brought… like I literally had surgery one time. And the same day with a big ass like the same day out of surgery, I was in the club partying,” said Ortega, admitting to living a quite reckless lifestyle. And that’s not all.

“T-City” also revealed attending parties with stitches while being on painkillers. The 33-year-old said, “With stitches like f***inf nerve block and popping, you know, Norco, whatever, painkillers yknow. And I was drinking, and I was just… I can’t tell you kind of stupid right now that I think about it.”

Given his lifestyle, most people wouldn’t be surprised to see Ortega be out of competition for almost two years sometime again. Despite this, early on in the interview, he revealed how the layoff wouldn’t be an issue for his performance.
