Along with Emmet and Rodriguez, UFC’s light heavyweight fighter Tyson Pedro also received a 6-month (180-day) suspension. The main-event fighters of UFC 284, Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev, received minor suspensions of one month and 14 days, respectively. However, the length of these medical suspensions can be reduced if a fighter can get permission to compete by consulting a physician.
Yair Rodriguez is expected to fight the reigning UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski. However, his 6-month suspension means that MMA fans may not get this fight anytime soon. ‘The Great’ pulled off an impressive performance against Islam Makhachev despite his defeat. He also warned all the featherweights of what they can expect in a fight with the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.
