Will Petr Yan's return to the Octagon be triumphant, or will Figueiredo steal the spotlight?

The bright lights of Macau, often called the ‘Vegas of the East’, are set to shine brighter as the UFC makes its long-awaited return. It’s been nearly a decade since the promotion last landed in the city, and now, the iconic Octagon is heading back to the Galaxy Arena on November 23 for UFC Macau/UFC on ESPN+ 106. The main event? A high-stakes bantamweight clash between two former champions, Petr Yan and Deiveson Figueiredo.

In the co-main event, women’s strawweight stars Yan Xiaonan and Tabatha Ricci are set to clash in a crucial matchup in their division. But that’s not all as names like Volkan Oezdemir, Song Kenan, and more will also light up the Octagon! So, here’s a look at all we know about their estimated payouts at UFC Macau.

Petr Yan will be returning to action for the first time since his UFC 299 clash against Song Yadong. While Yan did manage to stop a 3-fight losing streak by securing a unanimous decision on the night, he suffered multiple injuries in the bout that have kept him sidelined till now.

According to information provided by MMASalaries, Yan secured an estimated base salary of $200,000 for his UFC 299 clash against Yadong. With a $200,000 win bonus and $11,000 in sponsorship payouts, ‘No Mercy’ secured a total payout of $411,000. As such, it can be assumed that he’ll be taking home the same salary this time around, as well.

But standing in his way will be Deiveson Figueiredo. A former two-time flyweight champion, ‘Deus Da Guerra’ moved up to bantamweight in 2023 and has since secured 3-straight wins over names like Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt, and Marlon Vera.

Have an interesting take?

For his UFC 300 clash against ‘No Love’, the Brazilian secured a base salary of $200,000 and the same amount as the win bonus. However, he did get a $100,000 performance bonus for choking out Garbrandt in the second round, and adding up the $16,000 in sponsorship payouts, Figueiredo walked away with an estimated total payout of $516,000. But since this isn’t a PPV event, his base salary is expected to remain the same for UFC Macau.

It’s important to note that all figures provided in the article are estimations based on publicly available sources. But let’s take a look beyond the main event and explore what the other fighters at UFC Macau are set to take home on November 23!

Yan Xiaonan, Tabatha Ricci, Volkan Oezdemir & others’ purses at UFC Macau

No. 2 ranked women’s strawweight Yan Xiaonan returns to action after her quest for the elusive UFC gold against Weili Zhang at UFC 300 ended in disappointment. She’ll be taking on no.10 ranked Tabatha Ricci who is currently on a 2-fight win streak. According to information provided by MMA Salaries, Xiaonan secured a base salary of $250,000 for her UFC 300 title fight and is expected to make the same amount or slightly lower for UFC Macau. While TotalProSports has estimated that Ricci will be walking away with a base pay of $100,000.

In a welterweight clash, Song Kenan will be taking on Muslim Salikhov at UFC Macau. Their estimated earnings for this bout? While recent figures from their last fights aren’t available, according to MMA Salaries, Kenan secured a base salary of $40,000 for his 2021 clash against Max Griffin, while Salikhov walked away with $48,000 for his clash against Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Vegas 28.

Volkan Oezdemir is coming into UFC Macau riding on a two-fight win streak and he’ll be taking on Carlos Ulberg in a light-heavyweight showdown. For his UFC 280 appearance against Nikita Krylov, ‘No Time’ secured a base pay of $150,000. Meanwhile Ulberg secured a base salary of $33,000 for his fight against Ihor Potieria in 2023 and may receive a bump this time around.

While fighter purses offer a glimpse into the business side of the sport, the real payoff lies in the unforgettable moments these warriors create. With Macau set to host this spectacle for the first time in nearly a decade, one question remains, who will seize their moment under the bright lights of the ‘Vegas of the East’?
