Former UFC champ Francis Ngannou and his well-publicized exit from the UFC had the entire MMA sphere talking and speculating about his next move. Now, months after his departure and the talks of a boxing bout having failed to materialize, ‘The Predator’ finds himself in a rather uncomfortable position. At least that’s what a section of the fans believe.
While Ngannou did get commended for standing his ground and demanding a better contract, one UFC legend had cast doubts on the decision made by the former heavyweight champ. Now, following his criticism, the UFC Hall of Famer made yet another shocking disclosure in a recent appearance on a popular podcast. His claims of making a massive earning after one of his championship fights have just added more fuel to his criticism of the African’s decision to test free agency.

The individual we speak of is none other than the legendary Chael Sonnen. The outspoken Sonnen has gone and made yet another startling disclosure in a recent appearance on the ‘Flagrant’ podcast. Speaking to comedian Andrew Schulz and his crew, the former UFC fighter claimed that he was part of a rather huge payday during his UFC career.
When asked about the biggest cheque that he pocketed, ‘The American Gangster’ responded that it was the second time that he fought Anderson Silva, which instantly made him a multi-millionaire.
“The most I’ve ever made was $8.8 million in one night. $8.8 million the second time I fought Anderson Silva.” explained the 45-year-old.

Now whether Sonnen, known for his wit on the mic, is stating facts is up to fans to decide. But if the numbers he stated were indeed true, his criticism of Ngannou does make sense in some way.
Sonnen’s claims come after his criticism of Francis Ngannou for choosing free agency
The 45-year-old was quite vocal about his dislike for free agents in one of his videos on his YouTube channel. Stating that the opportunities that a UFC contract opened up for a fighter were tremendous, he questioned Ngannou‘s decision to leave the promotion.

As Sonnen pointed out that the former heavyweight champ dropped the opportunity to be a part of massive fights against the likes of Jon Jones; he also raised a thought-provoking question for his views.

“Okay, so you’re not free to do things that come within a contract. So, what are you free to do?” Sonnen asked, pointing out the supposed freedom that comes with being a free agent.

Now when one takes into consideration that he made above $8 million and Ngannou reportedly made $600K as his highest every payout, we can only wonder as to what ‘The Predator’ could have possibly missed out by deciding to leave the promotion.
