Joe Rogan recently hosted UFC star Jorge Masvidal on ‘The JRE MMA Show.’ The 39-year-old’s second appearance on the show is already making rounds on social media for some of the discussions the pair had. Rogan’s chat with Masvidal covered several important topics, like the latter’s recent fights, legal troubles, and his bad blood with Colby Covington.

Prior to this sit-down with Masvidal, Rogan made one huge claim about Masvidal and his peers in the 170 lbs division of the UFC. This claim received some strong reactions, including one from UFC legend Chael Sonnen. In fact, ‘The Gangster’ went to the trouble of making a video for his YouTube channel to address the claim and promptly dismiss it.

Rogan made the claim on a recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience.’ The 55-year-old faced blowback from the fans for saying Masvidal would have been a problem for Georges St-Pierre. Now, Chael Sonnen has taken up Rogan’s case for his statements on JRE.

Chael Sonnen’s response to Joe Rogan

In a recent episode of ‘Beyond The Fight,’ Sonnen urged fans to dismiss Rogan’s claim about GSP and Masvidal. The long-time UFC commentator had claimed on the show that modern welterweights are better than GSP.

Sonnen took an issue with it and said, “When we have a doper, named Joe Rogan in this case, saying that today’s fighters are better than Georges St-Pierre… What happened to the good old days where we said, ‘Guy’s on drugs’?”

He further added, “He even put Masvidal over as an example that today’s welterweights are far superior and better than GSP… We should just dismiss this but I want to explain to you how we got there because this is a person who has a right to an opinion. And it’s a person that will influence your views.”

He continued, “What Joe said, and how he did his math is very common. But I would like to correct you to what a non-420 mind can come up with. Joe got to that point by stating that the competition is harder now than it was then, and I hear many people doing that. What does the competition have to do with the guy? “

Suffice it to say, Sonnen is siding with most of the fans in disagreeing with Rogan.
