The famous brawl of 2018 when Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team attacked Conor McGregor and his team is still fresh in the minds of the people. It is also unbelievable that these fighters had mutual respect before things got worse. The incident saw Nurmagomedov and McGregor fined and suspended from the UFC.

The aftermath of the fight raised a lot of questions about the working of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Recently, a UFC legend has spoken about the incident. Surprisingly he sympathized with Conor McGregor and gave his insights on the brawl. Furthermore, some insights about the job of the Nevada State Athletic Commission were also revealed by the UFC Legend.

Conor McGregor has Chael Sonnen’s sympathy

Chael Sonnen, on his YouTube channel, laid out the incident in the aftermath of the fight. The ‘Bad Guy’ said, “One of my all-time favorites was when Nevada pulled on Conor McGregor the day that team Khabib jumped the cage and attacked Conor. They find Conor….”

Furthermore, Sonnen added, “It was a hundred and fifty grand. If I’m wrong seventy-five. They fined Conor. Now the commission doesn’t have a whole bunch of jobs but they sure have one which is to keep the fighters safe. Conor was where he was supposed to be. Doing what he was supposed to be doing.” Sonnen is taking McGregor’s side and stated that the Athletic Commission was supposed to keep the fighters safe.

Chael Sonnen thinks that the Commission didn’t make a mistake

In addition to the duties of the Athletic commission, Sonnen also reasoned their decision to fine ‘The Notorious’. Sonnen explained the situation from a legal standpoint. Moreover, the controversial ex-UFC fighter stated, “The apparatus that was supposed to be secured failed to be secured… They went after Conor and it was brilliant. It was absolutely brilliant. They didn’t make a mistake.”

Furthermore, the self-proclaimed ‘Gangster’ said, “They didn’t really think Conor did something wrong. They got some legal minds in a room and go after him before he files the lawsuit and do it now. Come after him and give him a settlement.”
