The UFC heavyweight champion could walk out of the promotion in 2023. Though, there is a lot of time for Francis Ngannou and the UFC President Dana White to make amends. Many fighters are speaking their mind on the hottest topic around the MMA space. Recently, a UFC Hall of Famer gave his two cents on the matter.
Here, the UFC Hall of Famer being referred to is none other than ‘The California Kid’ Urijah Faber.
Faber recently had an interview with renowned MMA reporter, The Schmo. In that interview, he proposed an intriguing resolution for Dana White to make amends with Francis Ngannou.

Speaking to The Schmo, ‘The California Kid’ said, “I haven’t been following it too much, but I think the answer is money. Pay that man the money. He is the heavyweight champion of the world.”
“I think, when it really comes down to the very last minute, I feel like the UFC will pony up, and hopefully, they reach an agreement that works. Because we all want to see the best fighters in the world in the UFC, I know I do.”
However, ‘The Predator’ has desired to have him being allowed for boxing fights in the new contract, and that looks like a big hurdle in the contract negotiations.

What happens if Francis Ngannou leaves the UFC?
If the UFC heavyweight champion decides to walk out of the UFC, Dana White will look to put the next two guys for the vacated UFC heavyweight championship. Since the championship belongs to the organization, ‘The Predator’ will lose the ‘UFC Heavyweight Champion’ status as soon as he leaves the company.

Even though technically he wouldn’t be the UFC champion, he would still have the leverage in his future deals as a fighter who never lost his title.
However, the UFC head honcho will look to keep the heavyweight champion in the UFC and get him a deal. It would be interesting to see how things will go down with the boss and ‘The Predator’.
