Alex Pereira created a huge upset in the world of mixed martial arts by defeating the heavily favored Israel Adesanya at UFC 281. Pereira‘s relentless striking proved to be too much for Adesanya, who was unable to mount a comeback in the face of Pereira‘s relentless onslaught. With this win, Pereira cemented his status as a dangerous fighter, capable of competing with and defeating even the best in the sport.
The Brazilian’s dominant performance and subsequent capture of the middleweight championship have made him a hot commodity among fans and other fighters alike. Further adding to his long list of skill sets, Daniel Cormier has disclosed a skill of his that may unleash wrath on his prospective opponents hereafter.

In the most recent YouTube video, Daniel Cormier praised Alex Pereira for having a profound understanding of grappling. ‘DC’ cited a particular incident with ‘Poatan’ and said, “Everywhere I run into that guy (Alex Pereira), I try to single leg him. And when I grab his leg, dude is strong, he goes right to my wrist with his hands, and he starts to try to defend the right way.”
Cormier further added, “I am telling you, from grabbing him, he has an understanding of how to defend himself when guys are trying to take him down. And that may spell disaster for the guys at the middleweight. Because, if you can’t take this dude down, we have seen him outstrike the best strikers in the UFC middleweight division that we have seen since Anderson Silva. So it’s not an easy thing to beat this guy.”
‘DC’ said that the statement holds true for his prospective opponents, Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya, too.
Having said that, ‘Poatan’ has all the options available to him now. And of all the choices, his probable fight with Jamahal Hill, the freshly crowned light heavyweight champion, is by far the most intriguing.
Next in line could be the Champ Champ tag

Since Hill‘s victory at UFC 283, there have been talks that ‘Poatan’ will exact revenge on his coach. The Brazilian will have to increase to position 205 for that. And with all the theories floating around, it appears that LHW is Alex Pereira‘s preferred place, after all.
