Georges St-Pierre is a UFC legend. He achieved outstanding success in the UFC and became the second fighter to secure a title in a second weight class. However, he retired from professional fighting after his last win (thirteenth in a row) in 2017. Despite being away, his legend status keeps him relevant.
The 40-year-old still does many interviews and makes talk shows appearances frequently. Recently, ‘GSP’ appeared in an episode of a podcast with popular podcast host Lex Fridman.

The former UFC double champion taught Fridman some techniques to survive in a street fight. And during the episode, ‘Rush’ claimed he would prefer fighting UFC heavyweight Francis Ngannou over Bas Rutten in a street fight.
He said, “In a street fight, I would rather fight Francis Ngannou than fight with Bas Rutten in a street fight.”Later, he also explained his preference, “In the street fight there is no referee and there is an instigator. And there is the other person. The best in life for a street fight is always to not be the instigator. Because you have the element of surprise.”
Bas Rutten (28-4), a former UFC champion, is a specialist in Krav Maga, i.e. a type of military self-defense and fighting system. Krav Maga focuses on real-world situations and is extremely efficient in street fights. This might be the reason ‘GSP’ chose Ngannou over Rutten.
Meanwhile, ‘The Predator’ is also a vicious striker in the UFC and will be back in action soon.
Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane: The heavyweight war
UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will make his first-ever title defense against Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270 on 22nd January.

The interesting part about the fight is that they both trained under coach Fernand Lopez. However, after parting ways, Ngannou has had a bitter relationship with both Gane and Lopez. This equation could lead to both sides looking to bring their absolute best to claim all the bragging rights at the year’s first PPV.
