UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs Sakai will see a lightweight matchup between Claudio Puelles and Jordan Leavitt go down in the event’s preliminary card. Both fighters won their last fight inside the Octagon, and another win will help each to catapult in the rankings of the division.

Former Dana White’s Contender Series alumni, Leavitt, has an undefeated professional record of 8-0. A slam knockout win against Matt Wiman gave ‘The Monkey King’ a perfect start to his UFC career.

Meanwhile, his opponent, Puelles, has a professional record of 9-2. ‘El Nino’ will make his fourth appearance inside the Octagon against Leavitt. The 25-year-old has defeated Felipe Silva and Marcos Mariano in his last two fights inside the Octagon. Puelles made his organizational debut back in 2016.

Leavitt has a total of six finishes under his belt so far. One T/KO and five submission wins rack up those numbers for him. Meanwhile, Puelles has managed to earn two T/KO and five submission wins in his career so far.

Claudio Puelles vs Jordan Leavitt: Analysis

The fight between the two lightweights could very well have taken place on the main card. Especially considering the fact that Leavitt has managed to garner some considerable amount of fan attention after his slam KO win over Wiman, it’s surprising to see him fighting in the prelims of this event.

Leavitt has looked extremely promising in his career so far. He is a master of the ground game and has been able to control his opponents once he has taken the fight there. To Leavitt’s benefit, Puelles has been controlled on the ground in some of his fights.

But Puelles is a very young prospect and has the ability to upset anybody in the division. However, Leavitt is a young fighter himself and currently has a lot of momentum behind him. He might just be able to out grapple Puelles in the fight eventually getting a decision in his favor.
