The 37-year-old saw his fighting days come to a close on an unfortunate losing streak. Since breaking away from the daily routine of MMA, Askren has been quite active on Twitter. His recent post about the Russian economy outdoing every other country turned the thread into a laugh riot for trolls.

Russia has been singled out since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine crisis and that is what Askren referred to in this tweet.
They cut Russia off from international banking and it is the best performing currency of 2022! 🤯

Fans weren’t in complete agreement with Askren, and some even found his views strange. The MMA community gathered around to share key insights and some even trolled him incessantly.
Ben Askren falls prey to online trolling
The former UFC fighter drew a lot of flak from the community, as fans called him out. This fan offered his thoughts on the matter and called the sudden rise, “Mirage”.
Their currency is doing well on the outside. But it’s a mirage. It’s because they are forcing all Russians to have 80% of the currency in rubles. The ruble is a shitcoin for pumps and dumps.

Another fan stated that the government has laid out elaborate plans to elevate its economy. He countered the previous tweet and stated the economy is actually doing well.
Nope. They just low key pegged the rubble to energy prices by demanding all Russian energy purchases to be made in rubble. Since no one had any rubbles, all the countries like Germany who depend on Russian "natural" gas had to buy rubbles, which is why it's doing well.

This fan mocked Askren and his undying faith in Bitcoin by comparing it with a tangible investment.
Which is why you should buy gold and not bitcoin

This fan called the sudden surge volatile and briefly explained the concept and how it impacts an economy.
It’s called volatility. It crashed and then rose some…that’s how it’s claimed as best performing. All an illusion. Most prominent currencies have less volatility and skewed daily changes.

More members of the community suggested that mixed martial artists should not comment on economics. One fan even stated that he 0nly follows the retired fighter for his tweets on economics.
I follow Askren because wits hilarious watching someone who doesn’t understand economics talk about value of currency 🤷🏻♂️😂
— Silenttoxic (@silenttoxic) May 20, 2022
This fan alleged that the energy trade with other countries has helped revive their economy.
Russia is being paid in ruble by the Europeans for the oil and gas they get.Thats why
— Theodore Sofokleous (@theosofo) May 21, 2022
The tweet urged another fan to comment that Russia was not the best performing currency but it didn’t offer any insights.
Love you Ben but Russia 🇷🇺 does not have the best performing “currency” of 2022
— Crypto Studio 247 (@CryptoStudio247) May 20, 2022
The sudden surge experienced in the current week has baffled this fan as he compared the economy’s situation with that from the past week.
This is the same currency that had a lower market value than Roblox Bucks last week?
— Son Glohan (@Jewpakaveli) May 20, 2022
Further, another fan shared a hilarious NBA gif, implying that the sudden rise would soon meet a similar downward fall.
