As the UFC opened their account with the Mackenzie Dern vs Amanda Ribas 2 Fight Night, Islam Makhachev appeared to be witnessing the action with his manager, Ali Abdelaziz. The lightweight champion joined Adin Ross for a small live stream, and guess what? Ross got a little taste of Makhachev’s grappling prowess, prompting fans to react on social media.

Thanks to his close ties with Dana White, Adin Ross recently announced the live stream with Islam Makhachev, which, in all fairness, fans didn’t see coming. When the streamer caught up with the lightweight champion at the Performance Institute, the latter was busy watching the UFC Vegas 101 action. As such, he asked Ross to wait for some time. It looked as if Makhachev wasn’t interested at all, but he’d later join the 24-year-old but inside an Octagon.

The popular streamer had a sparring session with Sean O’Malley in the past, but this one with Khabib’s protégé didn’t go on for too long. So, Islam Makhachev gave Adin Ross a chance to submit him via a rear-naked choke attempt. Instead of choking the UFC champion out, the streamer saw his foot getting trapped between Makhachev’s legs, which forced him to yell in pain. “How are your legs so strong?” Ross couldn’t comprehend how he was the one in pain as Makhachev kept smiling.

Fans point out Adin Ross’s mistake while grappling Islam Makhachev

Islam Makhachev had already given a few tips before he and Adin Ross sat on the mat for their brief grappling session. As such, one fan pointed out that the streamer may not have had his foot crushed if he kept those tips in mind. “Man Islam told him exactly what NOT to do,” said one fan. Given that Makhachev didn’t have to do much to get Ross to yell out in pain, another fan put a stamp on the Dagestan native’s elite level of grappling. That fan added, “Islam is one of the best grapplers in MMA.”

What’s your perspective on:

Did Adin Ross really think he could out-grapple Islam Makhachev, or was it all for laughs?

Moreover, fans knew what Islam Makhachev was up to, as they noticed him smiling while on the mat. “Islam is a menace,” a fan added. A different Instagram user pointed out the streamer’s mistake while claiming that the champion set Adin Ross up. While he stated, “You’re not supposed to cross your legs from the back take. Lol he set him up for his own counter,” another fan mentioned that Ross didn’t even try to keep the ‘basic’ techniques in mind. “No sh*t haha it’s why you don’t cross, basic jits.”

“U can see Islam smiling before say tapping he knows why,” another fan stated after noticing how much fun Makhachev was having when Adin Ross yelled out in pain. But is there a name to that foot-crushing move by the lightweight champion? Well, a fan claims that it’s the “Calf slicer.” But actually it was kind of an ankle lock. Makhachev locked Ross’s feet between his thighs and shifted to his side, hyper-extending the streamer’s ankle, and hence the painful yelling.

Well, it was all fun and games for Islam Makhachev as he gears up to etch his name in the lightweight division’s history. Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s protégé is just one win away from surpassing his mentor as we wait to see if he makes Arman Tsarukyan tap out at UFC 311, just like he did to Adin Ross.
