UFC Edmonton will see ‘Thug’ Rose Namajunas take the next step toward becoming a two-weight world champion. She will attempt to win her fourth fight in the flyweight category this weekend in Canada. But being one of the more celebrated fighters in the UFC, who ranks at #5 in the UFC athlete rankings, surely comes with its perks. And the most appreciated perk is the payday.
Today, let’s take a dive and find out how much Namajunas and her opponent, Erin Blanchfield, expect to earn at UFC Edmonton.

‘Thug Rose’ received her biggest payout at UFC 274. Even though she lost the bout against Carla Esparaza via a unanimous decision, Namajunas bagged a hefty amount of $952 thousand. Out of which, $300 thousand came from her base salary, $600 thousand from the pay-per-view sale, and $30 thousand from the performance bonus.
While Namajunas never really revealed her base salary, her average salary per fight is estimated to be a guaranteed amount of about $100-300 thousand, she often receives quite a bit of money from bonuses and brand endorsements. With sponsors like Reebok, RVCA Sports, and ONX Sports backing her up, the Milwaukee resident often takes home about $42 thousand from her fights.
On top of that, the former 2-time strawweight champion can expect to get a win bonus of $100 thousand, along with $30K – $35K in compliance pay. All in all, the $2 million worth flyweight #5 contender has the chance to expand her wealth by about $500,000, following the bout at UFC Edmonton.
But in case she loses the bout, Namajunas would lose the chance to get a title shot any time soon. Apart from that, ‘Thug Rose’ would also lose a few thousand dollars from her paycheck by losing out on the bonuses. Nevertheless, she can still expect to earn an amount lying between half a million to about a million dollars.

‘Thug Rose’ has earned about $300,000 in post-fight bonuses through 16 UFC bouts. And these came via 3 Performance of the Night bonuses, and 3 Fight of the Night bonuses. Needless to say, she would look forward to expanding these numbers at UFC Edmonton.
But what about Blanchfield? Let’s see how much can the #3 flyweight earn at her next fight.

Blanchfield, unlike Namajunas, has yet to wear the UFC championship gold. However, her professional MMA record has told the story of the emergence of a future champion, don’t you agree? And with that, comes the dream of a heavy purse after a fight. While Namajunas’ biggest payday came close to a million dollars, Blanchfield’s biggest paycheck was just $205,000. It came when she submitted Jessica Andrade with a rear naked choke, back in 2023. Coming to her fight against Talia Santos in August 2023, ‘Cold Blooded’ reportedly earned significantly less.

The #3 flyweight contender lost her last bout against Manon Fiorot. It was reported that she earned about $130,000 in that fight. With a total of 7 fights in her UFC record, Blanchfield can expect to earn a number close to what she earned in her last bout. But there’s a catch. Combatants with 6-10 fights in their UFC career, often receive an incentive money of $6 thousand.
In case ‘Cold Blooded’ manages to defeat the former 2-time strawweight champion, she can indeed expect to take $100,000 in win bonus. If at all, the fight earns the Performance of the Night bonus, her estimated payout can go even higher. However, it is pretty unlikely for the 25-year-old flyweight to earn more than half a million dollars at UFC Edmonton.
That being said, both Namajunas and Blanchfield would try their best to earn a victory. After all, both of them are aiming for the championship gold, and a win at UFC Fight Night 246 would get them close to a title shot. Blanchfield is coming to the fight with 12 wins and 2 defeats in her professional MMA career. With a 1-fight losing streak, a victory at UFC Edmonton seems pretty important for ‘Cold Blooded’.

On the other hand, ‘Thug Rose’ is on a 2-fight winning streak, with her latest win coming against Tracy Cortez. The 3-time MMA Fighter of the Year winner seems to have a better chance at winning. But the outcome of the fight is something that only time has the power to tell. Nevertheless, one thing is for certain. The upcoming UFC event would greatly entertain the fighting community. And the credit would go to the legalization of 12-6 elbows and the new definition of grounded opponents.
