Colby Covington, the controversial UFC fighter, has once again found himself at the center of a media storm. This time, the former interim welterweight champion appeared to have made threats towards broadcaster Jon Anik over his apparent support for Belal Muhammad‘s welterweight title shot over him against Leon Edwards. The incident has caused chaos in the MMA world, with many questioning the line between trash-talking and actual threats in combat sports.

Trash-talking has long been viewed as an integral part of the build-up to a fight, with fighters using verbal jabs and insults to intimidate their opponents and gain an advantage. However, in this case, right here between Covington and Anik, this one is labeled as quite an extreme move by many.

Recently, the UFC’s fan-favorite color commentator, Jon Anik, reflected upon the threats he received from the welterweight contender. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Anik does not seem to feel any real threat, instead choosing to brush off the incident as just another part of the job.

Anik also addressed the recent incident involving Colby Covington’s threats towards him, remarking, “I bring it up because when Colby Covington takes issue with me spearheading Belal Muhammad’s candidacy… Maybe for me, I editorialized, analyzed too much as a play by play guy. So maybe Colby Covington has a case. I have to separate that part of it with anything that he’s saying about my family, which candidly is really just a veil and empty threat.”
