He said, “I think it’s the most important skill in MMA. Because the grappler has the ability to dictate whether the fight stays up or goes to the ground.” According to Joe, the control grappler getting on his opponent during the fight is the most crucial skill to have in MMA.
Rogan gave the example of Bo Nickal being one such great grappler.

They concluded that even though it might come with a bigger cheque, health is everything. Perhaps the price is too much to pay for weighing in the gains in the case of bare-knuckle boxing.

The fighter has come from a humble background, where he had to do a lot of grinding. During the conversation with the MMA analyst and podcaster, he shared an experience of working in security in St. Louis. He was working in an environment where things may not work out your way.

Training in jiu-jitsu, boxing and MMA doesn’t necessarily translate that one will win a brawl on the streets, Joaquin explained. According to him, training in a discipline isn’t enough. One also has to read the body language. One needs to have the mentality to use anything necessary to get out of threats and bad circumstances.
