The return of Conor McGregor has the entire UFC community giddy with anticipation. On July 10, 2021, McGregor faced Dustin Poirier in UFC 264, which served as his last fight. The match, however, proved to be extremely risky for ‘The Notorious’. Following McGregor‘s serious injury, the ringside doctor interfered and requested that the bout be stopped. The Irishman’s tibia suffered a severe injury, necessitating extensive medical care. All McGregor fans were disappointed by the event, which was brought on not just by the Irishman’s second defeat to the diamond but also by his injuries.
However, right now, everyone is eager to see him make a comeback in the octagon. Regarding his return, his fellow fighters had multiple opinions against fighting the Irishman on his return. Finally, Leon Edwards shared his thoughts to talkSPORT.com on McGregor‘s return and his interest in facing the former double-division champ.

A fight between Conor McGregor and Leon Edwards
‘Rocky’ kept forward a condition to fight against the Irishman. He said “Yeah, 100 percent. If Conor comes back and gets a good win at welterweight, then it’s a fight I’d more than welcome. It would be a massive fight for Europe, a massive fight for everyone. Let him come back, get a good win at welterweight and then we can talk from there.”
The welterweight champion thinks a fight between the two inside the octagon would be fantastic. Nonetheless, according to ‘Rocky’s demand, McGregor can only do this if he triumphs in a welterweight fight.

‘The Notorious’ was bulking up his body while he stayed away from the UFC. The former two-time champion might now want to return to the welterweight class and claim the championship. If he becomes successful in the venture, it would make him the ultimate fighter with title wins in three weight divisions.

The journey to the title
Edwards became the welterweight champion with his sound moves. At UFC 278 in 2022, Kamaru Usman and Edwards squared off. It was their rematch for the UFC welterweight championship. ‘Rocky’ defeated Usman in the fifth round. The two will now square off against one another once more on March 18. Fans will have to wait to learn who will prevail in the trilogy battle. The circumstances, however, also suggest that Edwards and McGregor fans may have to wait much longer to see them in the same octagon.
