“It hurt a lot—so I’ll never let myself go through that again,” declared Jean Silva, steeling himself for the biggest showdown of his career against the unorthodox and dangerous Bryce Mitchell. Riding the momentum of a 12-fight win streak, the rising Brazilian star known as the ‘Fighting Nerd’ has his sights set on snatching ‘Thug Nasty’s’ coveted featherweight top 15 ranking. One more victory is all it takes to elevate his record from 15-2 to an impressive 16-2—and announce his arrival as a serious threat in the division.
On the other hand, the Arkansas native is coming off a knockout win against Kron Gracie and on the back of plenty of controversial opinions recently. Other than that, Mitchell has alternate wins and losses in his last four Octagon outings. As both the fighters prepare for their clash, let’s check the physical attributes including walk-around weight and reach that may give the bombastic 145lbs duo an advantage this Saturday.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Jean Silva height and reach comparison
Setting the stage for a battle sparked by a controversial comment about Adolf Hitler, Bryce Mitchell will step into the Octagon to face the ever-exciting Jean Silva who has been making a name for himself in the UFC alongside his ‘Fighting Nerds’ team. If we were to have a better look at the numbers, we can see that Bryce Mitchell stands taller at 5’10” (178cm), while Jean Silva has a clear disadvantage in terms of height as he stands 5’7″ (170cm) tall. The numbers don’t change much when we consider their reach. ‘Thug Nasty’ has a reach of 70 inches (178 cm), while Silva has a wingspan of 69 inches (175 cm).
Who weighs more, Mitchell or Silva?
Jean Silva has been a traditional featherweight, however, the ‘Fighting Nerd’ sensation has fought against a lightweight as well. ‘The Lord’ shared the Octagon against Drew Dober, who is a lightweight contender. As per the reports, the featherweight prospect weighs somewhere around 150-155lbs which is a bit heavier than featherweight standards. It must be noted that the Brazilian missed weight for his bout with Charles Jourdain at UFC 303.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Jean Silva's 12-fight win streak withstand Bryce Mitchell's unpredictable and controversial fighting style?
Have an interesting take?
Reason? Well, according to him, it was due to his injury: “I did have a little bit of an issue before while I was in process of cutting weight, and there was an injury there.” Apart from this, ‘The Lord’ has never missed weight for a fight. What about Bryce Mitchell? Despite being bigger, the American never has to cut his weight as he is a natural featherweight.
The Brazilian has issued a warning to the featherweight division, declaring that he will disfigure the faces of the 145-pound prospects as he climbs the rankings, “I’m showing everybody I will disfigure everybody’s faces. I’ll hurt them. I’m that guy, you know? People that fight me don’t fear the fight, they fear how they’ll look after the fight.” It is safe to say that the Arkansas native has a challenge in the shape of Silva, who is riding a 12-fight winning streak, but is he fazed? Certainly not. As the date of the UFC 314 PPV draws near, tell us about your predictions in the comments below!
