UFC 304 saw a fighting masterclass from Belal Muhammad when he took on Leon Edwards for the welterweight title. ‘Remember The Name’ dominated his opponent and Edwards was without an answer for the jabs and pace he received from Muhammad. However, people at UFC move on pretty fast from one win to another, so now the UFC buffs are curious about who Muhammad will fight next for his first title defense.
The Palestinian-American has already shown his eagerness to feature at UFC 310 but there is one catch. This is only possible if Conor McGregor does not make a return, which as of now is far from likely. However, this did not stop Dana White from making a cryptic announcement on the December event. At the latest DWCS press conference Dana White said, “It’s a fun card. It’s a good card. We’ll let you know soon.”

The video clip was from the recent DWCS (Dana White Contender Series) post-fight press conference where White fanned some flames of anticipation about UFC 310. He was asked to share his thoughts on the event’s headliners and that is when he hinted that the card was ‘fun’. As soon as this dropped fans started speculating about the card and the most prominent assumption was Belal Muhammad vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov. The fight is yet to be announced by UFC but the 36-year-old welterweight king hopes that he might find a place. It seems like the fans vouch for his thought process as well.
Will the welterweight division be in the spotlight at UFC 310?
With UFC 310, Dana White and the promotion are aiming to close the year with a bang. This event is reported to have been scheduled for December 7th and will go down at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise Nevada. As per the fans, the fights on the card might include Belal Muhammad vs. Shavkhat Rakhmonov and Kai Kara-France vs. Alexandre Pantoja.
This would be a repeat of last year’s December PPV, UFC 296, where Leon Edwards defended the title against Colby Covington. The latter has been on hiatus since losing the bout. Who knows? Maybe White even has ‘Chaos’ set aside for the December event. But do you know what’s even more interesting? The 170 lbs title is not the only one rumored to make a second straight December PPV appearance.
What’s your perspective on:
Will Belal Muhammad's first title defense be against Shavkat Rakhmonov, or is a surprise in store?
Have an interesting take?
This is because fans commented on the same lines writing, “Realistically it’ll probably be Belal vs Shavkat and Pantoja vs KKF for main and co-main.” At UFC 296, the co-main event was Alexandre Pantoja defending the flyweight title against Brandon Royval.
However, there was one UFC buff who thought about the intense pricing aspect of PPV that has plagued UFC for a while now as was seen at UFC 306. They said, “Translation: we will be putting on 14 mediocre fights and charging an arm and a leg for the PPV”.

As for ‘Remember The Name’, he has been on cloud 9 since his victory and gained enough confidence to crack open the door of his first title defense by suggesting a name. He posted on Instagram stating, “A couple of public service announcements. The pound-for-pound podcast sucks. Like I said, I was on there, [Kamaru] Usman was terrible at talking, terrible at fighting. Got embarrassed a bit on both ends. Speaking and fighting. Sorry [Henry] Cejudo, I do like you though. Shavkat, see you soon boy!”
The fans are thinking like the newly crowned welterweight because another follower said, “Probably Belal v Shavkat and Pantoja vs someone and I think Usman might fight jack della.” Muhammad is excited to get back into the octagon as soon as possible and had stated the same to MMA Junkie. However, he is also aware of the rapidly closing window to secure GOAT status since he is already 36. That is why he is targeting his next title fight for the final PPV of the year.
The December card has not yet been officially announced but followers commented things like, “Shavkat Vs Belal Main, Pantoja vs KKF/Kai co-main. Good card,” and “Belal vs Shavkat”. As for Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Kara France, the latter was a sizeable underdog leading up to UFC 305 for his co-main event clash against Steve Erceg and he proved his KO power that day and won. This is when he set his eyes on a title shot and called out ‘The Cannibal’ and ‘Don’t Blink’ thinks December is the perfect time for this clash. These comments by the fans might make Dana White think about the two matchups but all we can do is hope.

One follower even commented in a menacing tone, “You better do it Dana,” while another was skeptical and said, “Watch it be disappointing,” We do not know if the cards will be disappointing or not but what will be disappointing for Muhammad, is that he knows he would have to ditch the plans of December comeback if ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor decides to make his return on the same card.
However, the cryptic message shared by White during the post-fight press at DWCS makes it seem like the fight is already decided! Do you think it is going to be Muhammad vs Rakhmonov?
