Will Jon Jones' walkout song set the stage for a legendary showdown at Madison Square Garden?

UFC 309 will be headlined by a legacy-defining fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic for Jones’ heavyweight title. The card, of course, will take place at the iconic Madison Square Garden and the UFC is likely to go all out to make it a memorable event.

One of the most important set-pieces that set the mood and hype up fans for fights are the fighters’ walkouts. Given the hype around UFC 309, unsurprisingly many fans are very interested in knowing which songs will the stars use to make their walkouts. In this article, we attempt to answer this question.

Jon Jones likes to mix up his choice of walkout song and has used a fusion of Jadakiss’ ‘The Champ is Here’ and Nelly’s ‘Hot in Here’ for his past few octagon appearances. The heavyweight is likely to continue this tradition for UFC 309 too. On the other hand, Stipe Miocic has remained remarkably consistent about which song he walks out to for his fights.

The former heavyweight champion uses the song ‘Till I Die’ by American rapper Machine Gun Kelly, and will almost definitely use it for his UFC 309 mega-clash against ‘Bones’ too. Also faithful to one walkout song is another former champion, Charles Oliveira, who will face Michael Chandler in a virtual #1 title contender bout on UFC 309 the co-main event.

‘Do Bronx’ represents his Brazilian and Christian heritage proudly in his walkouts, choosing the Brasileiro Gospel song ‘O Hino’ by Fernandinho to announce his entry to the octagon. Chandler, too, has one preferred song that he has constantly used for his walkouts.

Or rather, ‘Iron’ uses a mashup of two energetic songs- ‘Paid My Dues’ and ‘The Search’- both by American rapper NF as his choice of walkout song. Both Chandler and Oliveira are expected to continue with their previous song choices for UFC 309. Now let us take a look at some of the other stars’ potential walkout songs.

Walkout songs for Chris Weidman, Jim Miller, Paul Craig, and others

Another much-awaited clash on UFC 309 will be between undefeated phenom Bo Nickal and veteran Paul Craig at middleweight. Nickal likes to use the song ‘Hand of God’ by Jon Bellion for his walkouts and is likely to continue this tradition at Madison Square Garden this weekend too.

On the other hand, Craig likes to mix up his walkout song choice, having used ‘Victory Over the Sun’ by Biffy Clyro and ‘Knuckles’ by The Snuts in his last two fights. Former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, on the other hand, is likely to stick to Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’ for his UFC 309 clash against Eryk Anders.

The legendary Jim Miller, who will be making a record forty-fifth appearance in the UFC octagon tonight is expected to continue using a version of Credence Clearwater Revival’s cult hit song ‘Bad Moon Rising’ in his walkout against Damon Jackson at UFC 309. Which walkout song is your favorite?
