Jon Jones may have a nasty reputation, a knack for getting into trouble, and may be unpopular among fans at the moment. But deep down, he’s a good man. At least that’s what some fans believe after a genuinely heart-touching moment at the UFC 309 pre-fight press conference as he gears up to defend his title against Stipe Miocic on Saturday.
“I have a very special young man here tonight. My man Kier and I met earlier today and he was diagnosed with cancer recently. And Dana, I’m wondering if he can get tickets to my fight?” Jones asked Dana White at the press conference, to which the UFC CEO immediately agreed.
This was much needed from Jones to get the fans on his side. Most of the crowd, after all, had erupted when the head honcho had said he wanted the winner of Jones-Miocic to fight Aspinall. To the point that they started chanting Aspinall’s name, and had to be shut down by ‘Bones’.

Jones also promised Kier that he would put on a great show for him this Saturday, not that he needed any more motivation. After all, Jones (wrongly) thought that Miocic was taking a shot at him by talking about his kids, and was quite livid about the same, even refusing to shake his opponent’s hand during the face-off. But that will have to wait until Saturday as fans were quite happy with Jones’ kindness and took to social media to praise him.

Of course, it must have felt incredibly special to Kier that not only did Jones secure him tickets for him, but also praised him and his smile profusely, which the fans really liked: “Jon Jones giving out tickets? That’s what you call a champion move, making fans feel like they’ve won the title too. 🥊🎟️”

Jones, of course, is being accused of ducking the interim champion, Tom Aspinall, and while his kind gesture for Kier may have won over many hearts, some fans just couldn’t get over the GOAT contender’s alleged ducking: “good gesture from the duck.”
Jones promising to put on a show for Kier also excited some fans, who felt the champ would go all out against Miocic now: “Jon finna kill his opponent now for him.” What do you think about Jon Jones’ securing UFC 309 tickets for cancer-stricken fan?
