The UFC always tends to play with a lot of foresight. In 2024, they did it again. At the beginning of the year, the UFC announced that on September 14, they would host the UFC 306 in Las Vegas. And it would be in probably the greatest modern arena out there, the Las Vegas Sphere. This news truly stunned boxing fans since they are the ones who usually occupy Sin City on that date since it is Mexican Independence Day; however, this time Dana White stole the slot of the sphere.
Since the announcement, fans and fighters have been hyped about the event to see what the UFC has to offer with the Sphere. And if main event star Sean O’Malley is to be believed, fans are literally going to have the experience of a lifetime as promised by the Dana White-led promotion. The bantamweight champion revealed that he got goosebumps just by listening to what was planned.
So when he got to witness it all in the walkthrough, it truly left him in awe. In a recent interview with Buffalo Bulls YT, Suga revealed how hyped he feels for the future fight at the Sphere and how it is going to be nothing less than surreal. Not just for the fighters and fans in attendance, but also for the people watching on television.

He said, “Watching him goosebumps… explaining to me how the sphere is going to play out. And it was giving me goosebumps. Getting me fired up, and it’s something like it’s hard to even like explain. It’s something you have to be there to experience it for yourself. And even on the PPV, Dana was saying they added two more, like… the pay-per-view is going to be an experience in its own way. That, experience the sphere from home.”

The weekend of Independence Day in Mexico will surely be a great night for combat sports fans. They will get to see UFC 306 as well as Canelo Álvarez in action on the same day. However, as evidenced by the recent 83% price slash in tickets, the UFC is struggling to get the attention of its fans. A major reason behind it was the overpricing of the tickets in the first place. The cheapest ticket costs around $3000. Another factor was the lackluster card that features lackluster fights other than the main event. Maybe that is why the UFC is now focusing on the visual aspect of the show. So what do they have in plans?

The UFC has blown the budget off the roof for this mega event at the Las Vegas Sphere. As per several reports, they have already invested over $20 million in the spectacle. But since the show is struggling to sell tickets, Dana White and co. have some major visual treats planned for the fans. One such planned spectacle is working with director Glenn Weiss to air six short films in between the fights.

The UFC has prepared six short films around Mexico’s contribution to combat sports. The 90-second films will be played for the fans in attendance as they enjoy it on the wraparound 16K resolution LED screens with an immersive sound setup. The experience is all set to take the fans in attendance to a ‘different world’ altogether. Now, all Dana White would be hoping for is that UFC fans are truly attracted to the visual spectacle the way moths are attracted to light. Otherwise, the promotion is set to take heavy losses if the fans do not storm in and buy tickets. What do you think? Will it all be enough to sell tickets? Let us know in the comments.
