Can Sean O'Malley really outdo Canelo Alvarez, or is he just blowing smoke?

UFC Noche 306 is days away and everyone in the promotion is pumped up! But do you know why The Sphere was chosen in the first place? Here’s the deal. Canelo Alvarez is having a title clash against Edgar Berlanga on the same day as Noche UFC! He booked T Mobile Arena ahead of the UFC boss and, since then, the whole ordeal commenced.

Naturally, fans are curious whether the Merab Dvalishvili vs Sean O’Malley fight would be a hit or whether Canelo vs Edgar would be massive. Dana White has left no stone unturned for the event and UFC 306 will be impressive. However, Sean O’Malley was still asked this pressing question of the Canelo vs UFC clash on First Take.

‘Suga’ answered, “I do believe the numbers would be better for UFC and us. That night I do believe that Sunday and Monday that week, will all be about the UFC the Suga show. I’m defending my belt [I’m] fighting the #1 guy on a 10-fight win streak… Canelo’s fighting a guy… I forgot [his name] already. Yea, Burrito. We are gonna crush it.”

Undoubtedly, ‘Suga’ is not fazed at all! He seems pretty confident with what he brings to the table and also what the boss has prepared. This event, which is happening on the same day as the Mexican Independence Day, will not just have amazing fight cards. They will also project six short films on the large LED screens at the venue.

However, Dana White is not taking any chances, leaving no stone unturned. He is so pumped up about this event that he even asked the Mexican fans about a particular aspect.

The thing is, the UFC head honcho is not taking any chances because Canelo Álvarez is a huge Mexican boxing star. On top of that, he is having his match on the same day as UFC 306. White is trying everything to attract Mexican fans and said this event will be a tribute to Mexican heritage. The short film plans will depict the contribution of Mexico to combat sports.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Sean O'Malley really outdo Canelo Alvarez, or is he just blowing smoke?

Have an interesting take?

Why is all this needed, though? It’s because the event has had some hurdles, especially with the ticket prices. Since he already spent $20 million on the production, the ticket prices started from $3000. Naturally, fans were unhappy. So the UFC had to slash the prices and make it $1000!

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with ‘KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas’ on YouTube, the boss was asked about the short film plans projected inside the venue.

White explained, “First of all, this show, this love letter to Mexico I call it, is authentic. Authentic to the people, their heritage, I mean even the Octagon girls, there are 9 Octagon girls and they’re all first-generation Mexicans from Mexico. From the movie that you’ll see to the chapters you’ll see what goes on live inside The Sphere…”

With so much heart and soul that he put into the whole ordeal, do you think that UFC 306 is going to make history?
