UFC 300 is right around the corner and Tom Aspinall does not fight booked. The young heavyweight became the interim heavyweight champion of the world last year and it was inevitable to compete for the world title. Moreover, it appears that Jon Jones, the Heavyweight champion may not be in the position to fight soon, especially against him.

Nevertheless, Aspinall is not interested in waiting around and made up his mind to face Stipe Miocic—until the former heavyweight champion declined. This ignited Aspinall to pass a comment that got questioned by Daniel Cormier.

In a recent turn of events, the interim heavyweight champion made his desire to fight the former heavyweight champion public. However, in a short of space, he gave the fans an update that, Miocic declined to fight. This leaves him in a tough spot as he is unsure who he could fight now which makes sense for him.

In a Tweet made by him, he was fed up and gave up on possibly fighting either of them, he said, “On that note. I will stop crying, accept it ain’t gonna happen and enjoy the fight that I and all the other fans want to see. Legend vs Legend for the heavyweight title. Maximum respect guys. Yay’

Meanwhile, Cormier does not buy it. According to him, this is all for a different purpose or is said in a satirical tone. He stated, “On that note. I will stop crying, accept it ain’t gonna happen and enjoy the fight that me and all the other fans want to see. Legend vs legend for the heavyweight title. Maximum respect guys. Yay.’”

However, at the same time, Cormier does not think there is anything else Aspinall can do to laud Miocic for turning down the fight and staying on his ground. Moreover, amidst this debacle, Aspinall did make his resentments known.

The interim heavyweight champion wants his shoot at the world title. However, Jones appears to be out of the game due to an injury and may not come back to fight him but instead be the former champion. This is in contravention of the rule that the champion must mandated to face the interim champion before anyone else after his comeback.

But that does not appear to be the case with Jones and this frustrated Aspinall who stated, “It’s just like kind of bending the rules almost, and if it’s the same for everyone else, like why isn’t it the same for maybe because it’s Jon Jones and they are trying to protect him.
