Conor McGregor may just be back at it soon. The infamous trash-talking fighter has once again teased being ready to fight soon. McGregor’s earlier claims of fighting Michael Chandler this year turned out to be uncorroborated. However, now, with UFC 300 in sight, ‘The Notorious’ might have more promising prospects.
Recently, Michael Chandler appeared in an interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour. Even his opponent-to-be felt that their fight might go down in the next year altogether. Since McGregor missed the USADA testing pool this year, the UFC 296 window closed for him which was the last pay-per-view of the year. So, what’s McGregor teased now? Here’s the story.

USADA testing takes about six months of rigorous testing of samples. Over these six months, if a fighter tests positive for PEDs or other enhancement-related drugs, they get flagged and banned. McGregor broke his shin bone and had to take some time out from fighting before facing Chandler in the cage again.
The fighter’s almost magical recovery had the fans convinced the fight was happening. In fact, McGregor claimed that the USADA would clear him and he’d fight Chandler this year but that never happened. Now, on a recent Instagram post, ‘The Notorious’ has updated his fans about his current status with the testing.
“Find my targets. Hit them. Fu*k the consequences. You’re going down. This is fighting. Sparring day with slick @grozdevnikolay. Always a banger of a spar with the slick fella. Submitted my stuff to Novitzky. Ball rolling see you soon you little light work b*tch.” McGregor captioned the post.

The important part of the caption is the name Novitzky. Jeff Novitzky is the Senior Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance at the UFC. So if Novitzky has McGregor’s samples ready, that means the fighter is finally entering the USADA testing pool. This finally gives a sense of validity to his claims of fighting soon. But how soon will it be?

The biggest source of potential confirmation is McGregor’s opponent, Michael Chandler. He told Ariel Helwani that a fight at UFC 300 “makes a lot of sense,” to him. Since the USADA testing pool takes about six months, the UFC 300 planned for the Spring might go down in the month of April.

The fight is going to be much anticipated and so, it’s only expected for it to be a main event. Since McGregor and Chandler aren’t a main event at any of the UFC events this year, the next year has to be it. Chandler seems more than ready and Conor McGregor has been posting training footage with his usual lavish life.
