In a recent interview, Dana White, CEO of the UFC, made certain comments that seemingly hinted at the main event already being finalized. If that is the case, then which fight is it? Over the weekend, the Power Slap league concluded their sixth event and White was in attendance. Post the card, he was present for the post-match press conference and was asked about UFC 300, specifically the main event. In response, he advanced that only the co-main event and one other fight were left to be made official. Subsequently, the fans inferred the other fight would not be a main event fight, as he would have mentioned explicitly that the main event fight is left alongside the co-main event.

During the press conference, when asked if the main event was left, he said, “Co-main event and one other fight.” In this case, Is Gaethje vs. Holloway the main event? Although the entire card is stacked, these two fighters are one of the biggest names in the sport. Not to mention, this match-up is too exciting given their styles of fighting.

However, it bears a mention that he does not explicitly mention that the main event is confirmed. Several other reporters also argue that the main event is not booked. So let’s look at the other side of this coin.
More to it than meets the eye
The aforementioned are just inferences from his comments. As of yet, there is no official confirmation of any fight being made official as a main event. Which would make one believe that it is in the works. Not to mention, A renowned MMA journalist since 2003, Damon Martin took to X., and reported, “Dana White says they are still working on the #UFC300 main event and there are two more fights to get done: “It’s been interesting … I’ll tell you that.”

Moreover, another MMA reporter, Amy Kaplan said that White did not mean to suggest that there is a main event. In addition, she clarified that there might be a miscommunication between the reporter and White. Reflecting along the same, she said, “I don’t think he understood the question. He meant the main event and one other fight. He never understands Diego’s accent.”
