The UFC is gearing up for the historic UFC 300, and CEO, Dana White is taking his time in announcing the fights for the event. The 54-year-old has announced several fights for the April PPV and they were celebrated with much fanfare. The other fights remain rumors and speculations and have fans excited at their prospects, except one, which has left fans with mixed emotions.

Though the announced fights for UFC 300 gained a lot of attention from fans, one speculated fight drew the most attention. The UFC is currently in talks for a title fight between Belal ‘Remember The Name’ Muhammad and welterweight champion Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards at UFC 300. Though a fight most fans were against at first, they seemed to have gotten over it. Especially after finding out that the no. 2 ranked welterweight will be training in Dagestan.

Belal Muhammad has taken the help of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team to train for fights in the past. For his fight against Sean Brady, the welterweight had a training camp with Nurmagomedov’s team which resulted in him grabbing an unprecedented first-round finish against the then-undefeated welterweight, Sean Brady.

For his fight against the welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, Belal Muhammad has decided to train again with the Dagestanis. He hopes to find the same success as he did against Sean Brady. However, the fans had a pretty mixed reaction to the Instagram post.

Here are some of the comments from the post:
“I think it’s more breaking news that someone’s reporting on something belal said” commented a fan implying that Belal Muhammad isn’t “breaking news” worthy.

“Gameplan let me try to lay on another grown man for 5 rounds with no finish” a fan commented making fun of his lack of finishes.

A comment wrote, “So he can get more roids” throwing shade at the PED incident that Khabib’s team had gone through.

“Good he knows he can’t strike with rocky ended up in tears last time.” wrote a fan, giving a throwback to how the first fight went

Some comments highlighted his last performance by giving credit to training with Khabib and his team:

“Last time he went to Dagestan, he came back and KO’d Sean Bradv in the 1st”

“As he should, those Dagestani guys will be his best chance at a belt. Although if Islam is considering a move up he probably doesn’t see Belal as a major contender”

While a comment stated the reality of the situation implying that Muhammad might not get another shot at the title if he loses. “Belal losses his title run is over they will never give him a shot again.”

Despite all the hate that the matchup is receiving, we can’t help but deny giving both fighters their props. Both fighters are currently dominating their division. Belal Muhammad is on a 9-fight winning streak and Leon Edwards currently boasts the longest wins streak in the division, with 13 straight wins. However, given that we’ve heard the fan’s perspective, what does the champion think about ‘Remember the Name’?

Leon Edwards isn’t a fighter who talks much outside the cage, as he prefers to show what he’s got inside the cage. However, before the matchup was in talks, Muhammad bombarded Edwards with title-shot callouts. The welterweight champion responded by tweeting how he felt about a fight against the no.2 ranked UFC welterweight.

‘Rocky’ took to Twitter to say what he felt about Muhammad. In his tweet, he revealed that he told the UFC that he was ready to fight ‘Remember The Name’. The champ believed that he was “the least intimidating person in the octagon” and that he was “easy work” for the welterweight champion.
