Conor McGregor and his UFC comeback has fans buzzing with excitement. Especially one man who eagerly anticipates their showdown – Michael Chandler, the former Bellator lightweight champion. The two were slated to clash after serving as coaches on TUF 31 (The Ultimate Fighter), but the fight never materialized due to McGregor’s ineligibility in the USADA testing pool.
Recently, McGregor initiated the process to re-enter the testing pool, sparking hope for their long-awaited bout. Chandler, too, shared updates on social media, affirming the potential showdown using McGregor’s own words!

Despite Conor McGregor’s UFC return against Michael Chandler being revealed early in 2023, the fight remains elusive. Chandler recently teased McGregor amid reports of his return to the USADA testing pool.
McGregor hinted at his USADA re-entry in an Instagram post, claiming to have submitted the necessary testing requirements to Jeff Novitzky, UFC’s Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance. Should McGregor indeed rejoin the pool, he must wait six more months before UFC clearance, pushing the earliest possible McGregor vs. Chandler bout to April 2024.
Chandler’s most recent fight ended in defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 in 2022. Since then, he assumed the coaching role on TUF 31 against McGregor, with his team dominating Team McGregor. Chandler provided an update on his USADA status on Instagram, mirroring McGregor’s statements. Affirming, “Me Too Dude…” and “Submitted my stuff to (Jeff) Novitzky. Ball rolling. See you soon you little light work b*tch.”

He also mentioned a visit from USADA on his Twitter/X account, emphasizing the impending bout. Fighters must endure six months in the testing pool before they can compete, making UFC 300 a probable setting for McGregor vs. Chandler, according to Chandler. He envisions their clash on the ‘historic’ UFC 300 card.
Chandler believes the fight will happen at UFC 300
The UFC disclosed the plan for Chandler and McGregor to coach opposing teams on The Ultimate Fighter 31. With a fight scheduled afterward. Despite their roles on TUF and a highly publicized altercation setting the stage, the fight has yet to materialize, leaving doubts about its occurrence. Nevertheless, Chandler maintains optimism.
In an interview with The MMA Hour, he declared, “My heart of hearts says the biggest fight we’ve seen in a very long time has to go down on the biggest card that the UFC is going to put together since UFC 200, since UFC 100…my gut says we might be waiting until UFC 300.”
