Dana White‘s UFC 300 main event might just be dying out. Not in reality but certainly in the minds of fans and that’s just as bad. Why? Because White has been teasing it for far too long now and his recent statements show nothing but trouble. Did he build up expectations without knowing if he could fulfill them?
Let’s backtrack here. Dana White told the world UFC 300 was going to be one of the biggest ever. He wanted it to jump records and set new ones. A while later, he promised Nina Marie Daniele to allow her to oil him up if he didn’t announce the main event within a week. And he didn’t keep his word. Rumors of White shooting an announcement video at Super Bowl LVIII were also afloat but no developments on that front yet either. Now, fans are worried he’s been bluffing this whole time.

Have fans been chasing a carrot hanging by a stick this whole time?
Dana White recently told the press after the Power Slap 6 event that he had two more fights to book for UFC 300. Those would be a co-main event and “another one”. He said nothing about the main event fight but he did tell everyone how he’s been through a lot of things trying to pull these two fights together.
One could assume that means that the main event is already set up and Dana White has put it behind himself now. But is that really the case? Recently, the UFC boss showed up on the Full Send Podcast to deliver worrisome news for the fans.
“There are so many twists and turns, and crazy f***ing s*** going on behind the scenes of UFC 300…” he said. “Jon Jones is not involved. We have one more slot to fill mid-level, and then we have the main event… I know what I’m trying to do [for the main event], but what I’m trying to do and what’s gonna happen could end up being two completely different things.”

White mentioning Jones is no coincidence. Just hours ago, ‘Bones‘ told Submission Radio that UFC top brass Hunter Campbell contacted him and asked him to be on the card too. However, still recovering from his injury, Jones refused to come on so soon. Now, fans believe that the UFC is just trying to find a fight that fits the hype.
Fans let loose on Dana White
Dana White also said that the behind-the-scenes drama at the UFC could be used to make a whole new documentary. Apparently, the twists in the plot are so entertaining that they have the UFC head honcho sweating buckets. And fans see it all too well. Here’s how they reacted to White’s recent confession.
jon said he got called to appear on the card recently which probably means they have no big fight for the main event

Some fans believe White has very few options left.
He’s 100% scrambling at this point

Others believe that fighters see White’s frustration and use it for themselves.
They planned this event so poorly that instead of the top guys jumping at the chance to be on 300, they realize how desperate ufc is and their asking price went up

This fan called it all a big bluff.
He ain’t cooking shit💀

Yet others were sure that the main event wouldn’t satisfy anyone’s expectations anymore.
I think it’s been built up too much that it will never reach anyone’s expectations at this point

I’m just ready to be very under whelmed by the main event for UFC 300

Finally, one fan wanted White to go down to the details.

Looks like the fans are at odds with the UFC CEO. And there is some truth to their concerns. White is starting to look uneasy every time the main event question is brought up. It could be because it’s brought up far too often, but it also begs a new question. Why did he promise to announce it in a week and then just didn’t? Did things fall apart, making him scramble for a new fight? Perhaps the UFC is just trying to make ends meet in a desperate new situation.
