UFC 300 is on the horizon and a stacked PPV awaits fight fans. Amidst all the buzz, Dustin Poirier and Joe Rogan recently weighed in on one of the biggest fights on Dana White’s mega card – Max Holloway going up against Justin Gaethje, for the BMF title.
The BMF title has always signified some of the bloodiest brawls in UFC history. With both the fighters being heavy strikers – Holloway vs. ‘The Highlight’ could be no less! However, many believe Gaethje might take the win given his usual weight advantage and perhaps many are counting Holloway out. Except for, of course, Rogan and Poirier.

Dustin Poirier thinks Max Hollow can “beat Justin”
Dustin Poirier recently appeared on Theo Von’s podcast and laid his thoughts bare about a plethora of topics, including Max Holloway’s BMF fight. Poirier believes that Holloway could legitimately outstrike Gaethje inside the Octagon to secure the win. What’s more – echoing Rogan’s take, Poirier asserted, “I think people are kind of looking past Max a little bit .”
Further bolstering his argument, he added – “I think Max can beat Justin you know of course Justin could win but Max is tough his rhythm his range and his technique on the feet you know unless Justin wrestles a little bit I think Max can pick him apart and stay on the outside but that’s what makes fighting so fun we don’t know until we watch it”
Recently, Joe Rogan also showed his support for the featherweight on JRE MMA Show #154. The JRE host quipped, “You know why I’m interested in that because people are counting max out.” What do you think about the fight? Of course, both are iconic fighters – perfectly justified in their quest for the belt.
There are some differences in their recent history, however, and also in their weight classes. Gaethje is a lightweight while Holloway is a featherweight. Max Holloway has lost all of his title fights in recent history to Alexander Volkanovski. Perhaps having this belt would be his next big step. In the meantime, former BMF contender, Poirier has his own thoughts about having a belt.
Will Poirier have a lightweight title fight?

Dustin Poirier defeated Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299 and then talks about him going up against Islam Makhachev took over. Makhachev would soon address his interest in the fight but said that Poirier was undeserving of the title fight.
In fact, the only reason the Dagestani would fight ‘The Diamond’ is because everyone is currently “busy”. This might just be an indication towards Charles Oliveira taking on Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300. However, for now, Poirier has received no official word.
