The former UFC interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington is back at it again, bringing chaos and drama back into the division. Just a few days back, Covington managed to rock the MMA community by posting a video on his social media account holding nothing back against UFC welterweight prospect, Ian Garry and his wife. And he looks to be coming for all the welterweights now.
During a recent interview with ‘Submission Radio’ Colby Covington decided to come for quite a lot of people, even the likes of journalists, to a fighter’s wife. ‘Chaos’ also made some bold statements about Leon Edwards and Dana White. Here is what he said about them.

UFC welterweight champion, Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards was highly speculated to headline the historic event of UFC 300 before the UFC decided to give the spot to light heavyweight champ, Alex Pereira and former champ, Jamahal Hill. Dana White would go on to claim that Edwards was offered 3 fights and accepted all the fights put in front of him, but unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for his opponents. Colby Covington, however, believes that the whole story was a plot to raise the popularity of the welterweight champion.
When asked if ‘Chaos’ was shocked to hear it, he went on a rant against Edwards. In the interview, he said, “I wasn’t shocked by that. You know, I think it was fake news from the start. Everybody knows, the people that they wanted to match them up against. We’re all going into Ramadan, so none of them were gonna fight. So they’re just trying to hype up Leon because he’s got no hype. He’s got no star power. The guy’s unoriginally he’s just he’s a deadbeat. He’s a f**king… he’s a lowlife dude, he’s f**king… you know, he’s not a company man. He doesn’t care about doing good business for the company. So no, I wasn’t surprised.”
Whether we like or hate the man, there is no doubt that no one can stir up drama the way Covington does, especially in the welterweight division. His response to Ian Garry in the recent social media video was a testament to his distasteful trash-talking credentials.
Covington goes after Ian Garry’s wife in a recent social media post
Ian Garry and his wife, Layla Garry, became the prime targets for Colby Covington to bash as he returned to social media. The self-proclaimed “America’s champ” was surprisingly quiet when the young prospect called him out after his win at UFC 296. Which seemed to be better given the brutal stipulations he gave Garry if the two were to fight.
Covington laid out three clauses for Garry to sign only after which he would fight him. The first was that the couple would only have to open their comments on social media again. However, the second and third stipulations were outlandish to say the least. The last two stipulations were, “Layla, you got 60 seconds to convince me and the people why this fight needs to happen. So, put your husband in the corner, get on your hands and knees and beg… Layla, you wanna be a star? You want the spotlight? I got it for you, sweety, you want your 15 seconds of fame, Layla? After I beat your husband because that’s a foregone conclusion, I would beat him.”

Covington seems to have turned his attention to the Irish star. A potential bout between the pair could do both of them good. Garry can entire title fight talks if he beats a top guy like Covington. As for Covington, he can take the Dustin Poirier route from UFC 299 and prove he has still got it by beating the young prospect who is on a dream run. What do you think? Is this the next big fight at welterweight?
