Michael ‘Venom’ Page will make his debut in the UFC this Saturday. ‘MVP’ will take on #13 ranked welterweight, Kevin Holland, on the main card of UFC 299, but unlike almost every other fighter, it is already well-known coming into the UFC. The 36-year-old was signed with Bellator, where he became a star owing to his showmanship and dynamic and exciting striking skills. As he sets up to face Holland in a bout that may help him break into the rankings after his first fight, a throwback to Joe Rogan praising ‘MVP’ during his Bellator days.
Joe Rogan thinks ‘MVP’s style is dangerous and unpredictable
Back in 2019, Joe Rogan had UFC light heavyweight prospect Khalil Rountree on an episode of his JRE podcast. The pair discussed the upcoming Michael ‘Venom’ Page vs. Douglas Lima bout at Bellator 221, which Page went on to lose and suffered the first loss of his career. Analyzing the bout, Page’s “crazy karate point style” impressed Rogan.

Rogan felt that having world-class talent like Page and Liman fight each other was a UFC main event fight and was real credit for Bellator’s reputation. “Lima versus MVP. Douglas Lima, he’s no joke, that’s a dangerous man, Lima… It’s a real good one for sure, yeah. Well, fights like that really legitimize Bellator because these are fights that they could easily be a main event in UFC, talent-wise, you know, unquestionably,” Rogan told Rountree.
The UFC commentator spoke highly of ‘MVP’s unique, unorthodox style of fighting with his ability to dart in, strike, and move away at lightning speed, and felt that he brought something unique to the table. “Venom page is, he’s a real f***ing hard pill to swallow, man. Figure that guy out? Who the f**k can you bring in to train that can move like him?” he added.
Rountree agreed and felt that ‘MVP’s style was virtually un-re-creatable and unique to the Englishman. “No one. You can try. He doesn’t even know how he’s gonna move, you know. I think that guy just puts on music and just whatever happens, happens,” Rountree said. And Page, after a brief stint at the BKFC, is finally in the UFC and has his eyes set on the 170-pound gold.

Although he comes into the promotion already a star and with significant name recognition, Michael ‘Venom’ Page is 36 years old. With the clock on his career ticking down, the Englishman is in a hurry and intends to fight for the welterweight title soon.
In the pre-fight press conference ahead of his UFC debut at UFC 299 on March 9 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, the Englishman confirmed this and revealed that the Dana White-led promotion was onboard with his plan of contending for the title soon, which was possible given his star power and exciting style of fighting.

“I don’t do things just to make up numbers. We’re here for the belt. I’m here to get the bling. Getting to the top is key, which is why I start with somebody the likes of Kevin Holland. It needs to be that type of challenge. I don’t have time to try to build myself up, and I don’t need to,” he said. Is he a real Dana White headliner?
